Highlights
Over a hundred organizations including ninety three relief organizations and seven digital organizations from the volunteer & technical community (V&TC) are responding to the monsoon floods in India. Over 4,200 villages are impacted by catastrophic flooding. On July 4th the Digital Humanitarian Network activation received a request from SEEDS India for mapping support and for collating aid response by region. The 3W Report (“Who, What Where”) is a report compiled from traditional and new media on who is responding, where, with what aid. The Humanity Road team led by regional team lead, Paras Nath Sidh developed and published report: http://www.humanityroad.org/India3W. Volunteers interested in joining the effort can sign up here. About the Humanity Road: Humanity Road’s mission is to educate the public before, during and after
disasters on how to survive, sustain and reunite with loved ones.

Communities (V&TCs) and to provide an interface between formal, professional humanitarian

MVDA and Jandesh to conduct rapid needs
assessments in Tehri Garwal and Chamoli
districts. Allocated INR 500,000 (approx.
US$8,300) to enable local partners to support
500 households with immediate needs.
JANDESH and MVDA also involved in rescue
and relief work in RudraPrayag, Chamoli and
Tehri Garhwal districts & have rescued 100
people stuck at 12,000 feet. Running a kitchen
in Pandukeswar to enable tourists to reach
Badrinath. In addition, local partners have also
mobilized clothes for 35 households and
provided information to the media on the

provide relief supplies in partnership with
MVDA & UJJS & Jandesh. Have stored supplies

They set up a relief camp at Agastya Muni,

responding to the needs of children and
families hit hardest by the floods. The on-
ground relief team identified 10 villages for
the 1st phase of immediate and critical
response in the district of Uttarkashi. The

6/2013: Immediately after the flood, SBMA sent 100 employees to Rudraprayag, Uttarkashi, and Chamoli to conduct search & rescue and start relief operations. They rescued over 5000 people. Teams conducted rapid assessments in those 3 districts as well as Tehri district. In Uttarkashi, they set up 5 relief camps, served food and water at 3 locations, and helped the government and Sewa Ashram run relief camps at Maneri and Bhatwari. They also set up health camps at many locations and provided first aid facilities. Service Package (MISP) Manual in
collaboration with India’s National Disaster
Management Authority (NDMA) in response
to the flooding in Uttarakhand. The MISP
consists of interventions designed to reduce
HIV transmission and combat preventable
maternal mortalities and morbidities. It also
instructs humanitarian aid workers on how
they can prevent and respond to sexual
violence. NDMA has asked the affected
states to include these interventions in their
disaster management plans because these
health issues and soar following natural
