6 GOLD LINE TRACKS THROUGH OLDE TOWN The Gold Line is an 11.2-mile electric commuter rail line that will connect Denver Union Station to Wheat Ridge, passing through northwest Denver, Adams County, and Arvada. It is scheduled to open in 2016. This is a project of the Regional Transportation District (RTD) through its contractor Denver Transit Part- ners (DTP). Construction for the Gold Line in Olde Town Arvada will include installation of the commuter rail track and rail crossing improvements at Vance Street and Olde Wadsworth Boulevard. In order to perform these work activities in late fall 2014, Vance Street and Olde Wadsworth will be closed at the railroad tracks. These closures are scheduled to occur at separate times, allowing continued access to Olde Town and area businesses while work is in progress. As part of the Gold Line construction, a traffic light will be installed at the Vance Street and Grandview intersection along with four railroad gate arms at each crossing. The crossing improvements will allow for the establishment of a Quiet Zone through Arvada which will eliminate the requirement of the trains blowing their horns at intersections. For more information and updates on construction, see www.rtd-fastracks.com/gl_1 PARK PLACE Park Place is designed to be a high-quality, up- scale multifamily apartment project. This 153- unit, five-story, elevator-served building project will have one and two-bedroom apart- ments with three internal courtyards. Construction began this summer; it is antici- pated the first tenants will move in in the fall of 2015. Park Place Olde Town will encourage and em- phasize bicycling and will include a bicycle maintenance facility and extra storage for bikes and other outdoor gear. This future "green" building design will make for a health- ier Arvada citizen who walks rather than drives to the abundance of restaurants, retail shops and services in Olde Town. Residents of Park Place Olde Town will be able to use their cars less because of transit-oriented development, which will help reduce the carbon footprint - a benefit to all. 1 3 TRANSIT FACILITY/PARKING STRUCTURE This 600-space structure is being built to ac- commodate Gold Line commuters and patrons of Olde Town. This is a project of the City of Ar- vada through its selected Master Developer, Trammell Crow Company. The facility will in- clude a bus transfer area located on the first floor. For more information and updates on con- struction, see www.arvada.org. TRANSIT STATION AND PLAZA Construction on the Olde Town Arvada Sta- tion, located on Grandview Avenue between Olde Wadsworth and Vance Street, began in September 2014. This initial construction consists of foundation installation for the train platform and a retaining wall that will extend from the platform to Vance Street. The remainder of the platform is expected to be constructed in the summer of 2015. Also beginning construction in summer 2015 is the RTD Plaza, located south of the inter- section of Grandview Avenue and Webster Street and continuing east toward Vance Street. The plaza will offer picturesque views of the Clear Creek Valley and the mountains to the west. For more information and updates on construc- tion, see www.rtd-fastracks.com/gl_1 9 ACRE TRANSIT ORIENTED DEVELOPMENT (TOD) SITE The current site of RTD’s Park-N-Ride facility between Vance Street and Wadsworth Bypass will be replaced by the new Transit Facility/ Parking Structure, thereby freeing up nine acres of property for transit oriented develop- ment. This is a project of the Arvada Urban Renewal Authority (AURA) through its devel- oper Trammell Crow Company and their archi- tect RNL Design. Planning is underway to complete a master plan for the site which will include neighborhood meetings to solicit public input. 4 5 4 5 1 6 2 3 W. 56TH AVENUE CONNECTION The City of Arvada will be reconstructing W. 56th Avenue (currently the driveway access from Vance Street to the Park-N-Ride) to a City street with a connection to Wadsworth Bypass, with a three-quarter movement intersection.
