Blog Assignment #4 – “Finale” for Energy Storage Paper
At this point, you have refined your identified paper topic through lots of research and writing a primer/introduction. You have also received an expert review of your primer to help direct further research and writing as you develop the paper. It’s now time to make a “last”-‐ing impression. A key component to writing your paper is producing the conclusion, which is what ties the entire contents of the paper together and makes it read like a cohesive whole. Keep in mind that the conclusion is your “wrap-‐up;” it’s what you leave with the reader.
A good conclusion is insightful, evaluative and critical at the same time, and can be approached in different ways. An effective conclusion will provide your evaluation of the current state of the topic area and also note flaws, gaps, and inconsistencies in the knowledge and potential areas for future research. Most importantly, your conclusion should highlight how your topic fits into the broader area of interest, whether a research area, discipline, or an overall global challenge. The conclusion is and should be markedly different from your introduction.
Since you have not yet completed the literature review of your topic area, this conclusion will only be based on what you have read thus far on your topic. Since your conclusion is not a comprehensive evaluation at this point, please feel free to make note of such gaps as you write your conclusion, so the reviewer knows that you are aware you need to do additional research in a specific area.
For this blog assignment, write the conclusion portion of you paper utilizing all research you have done thus far and using additional references that you have found since Blog 3. At this point, you should have a minimum of 30 usable references for your paper (assuming you are looking for 10 sources per week.) Please make sure to utilize the feedback you received on your Blog 3 Introduction, and use the suggestions noted above on how to construct the conclusion of your paper. Make sure to use and cite sources/references (do not only list them at the end.) The entire blog should be no longer than 600 words (not including references.) Specifics Instructions:
1. Always cite your sources. 2. Please keep in mind that the blog/topics should be a draft conclusion to your paper. 3. Consider including photos, diagrams, external links, etc. Make sure to cite/attribute all images used. 4. Length of the blog should be no more than 600 words (not including figures and references.) 5. Prepare as a Word document and submit via email to [email protected] by 11:00 pm on October 3, 2016. 6. Post your blog by 11:00 pm on October 3, 2016. 7. NOTE: Post a minimum of 2 comments to two different classmates’ blog posts between October 4th and
11th. Think critically about your classmates’ posts, find resources/references that support your comments, and post your comments in between the scheduled dates only.
