Domingo de Cuaresma 4th Sunday of Lent March 31st, 2019 Sacred Heart Lenten Mission We will be having a Lenten Mission here at Sacred Heart beginning on Monday, April 1st and it will last until Wednesday, April 3rd. There will be confessions at 5:00p.m. each day followed by Mass at 6:00p.m. The Mission will begin shortly after Mass. This mis- sion is mandatory for all parents of children in Sac- ramental classes (RCIC, 1st Holy Communion, and Confirmation 1 & 2) that did NOT attend the Ad- vent Mission. Parents, do not forget to sign-in at the back of the church. Also, remember you can bring your family to this wonderful Lenten Mission; CCD classes for this week have been cancelled to allow for this opportunity. Fr. Rob Laksich will be conducting our Advent Mission. Fr. Rob is currently the pastor of Our Lady of Sorrows in Las Vegas, N.M. Ordained in 2015, he spent his first two years of priestly ministry at St. Francis Cathe- dral and Cristo Rey in Santa Fe. As a later vocation, Fr. Rob enjoyed a long career in outdoor education with New Mexico State Parks and Pima County Parks in Tucson, AZ. He is a 1993 graduate of UNM with a degree in Biology, and a 1987 graduate of Raton High School, where he was born and raised. We are blessed to have Fr. Rob here! __________________________________________________________________ The Purpose-Driven Lent What does it take to make a good Lent? Is it enough to give up red meat on Friday and come to Mass more often? The 40-day Lenten season can be an opportunity for spiritual growth and renewal, if we actually put our hearts and minds into it and give our Lenten fasting and observances some purpose. Of course we can just give up sweets or TV for Lent, but have we grown in any way spiritually if we just dive back into them (and other old habits) on Easter Sunday? In this Lenten mission, Fr. Rob will explore the ancient practices of prayer, penance, fasting, and almsgiving as avenues for the ideal goal of Lent: our growth in personal holiness.

The Purpose-Driven Lent

What does it take to make a good Lent? Is it enough to give up red meat on Friday

and come to Mass more often? The 40-day Lenten season can be an opportunity for

spiritual growth and renewal, if we actually put our hearts and minds into it and

give our Lenten fasting and observances some purpose. Of course we can just give

up sweets or TV for Lent, but have we grown in any way spiritually if we just dive

back into them (and other old habits) on Easter Sunday? In this Lenten mission, Fr.

Rob will explore the ancient practices of prayer, penance, fasting, and almsgiving

as avenues for the ideal goal of Lent: our growth in personal holiness.
