According to reports, a truck (JK02R-4895) crushed an middle-aged woman at Sangrambhata area of Kishtwar, 2 km from town, when she was on morning walk on Kishtwar-Chatroo road. Passerby shifted the lady to District Hospital Kishtwar where doctors declared him as brought dead. The deceased has been identified as Somi Devi wife of Puran chand of Thakrai Kishtwar. Police has registered a case vide FIR No.106/2017 under section 304-A at Police Station Kishtwar. 8 injured as matador skids off STATE TIMES NEWS SAMBA: About eight passengers were injured when a mata- dor in which they were travelling skidded off the road at Bari Brahmana. As per the details, a matador (JK21A 2195) which was on its way from Smailpur to Bari-Brahmana skidded off on road on Bari Brahmana-Smailpur road near Dainik Jagran Office Bari Brahmana resulting in eight passengers getting injuries. On receiving the information Bari-Brahmana police rushed to the spot and shifted all to nearby hospital. The injured were identified as Zaid (10) son of Munir Ahmed, Mohd Asif (7) son of Munir Ahmed, Sumaria (29) wife of Munir Ahmed, Vikas Kumar (25) son of Arvind Kumar, Deep Kumar (33) son of Krishna, Jatinder Kumar son of Dev Dutta, Gourav Kumar son of Romesh and Sham Lal son of Mohan Lal. All the injured were later shifted to GMCH Jammu. Police has registered a case for investiga- tion. Cop, boy washed away in Chenab STATE TIMES NEWS RAMBAN: A cop and a boy were feared to have washed away in Chenab yesterday evening in Ramban district. A JKP(Armed) cop identified as Selection Grade Constable, Subhash Chander of Jourian, Akhnoor was feared to have washed away in Chenab when the police vehi- cle (JK02AR-0493) he was driving, rolled down about 200 ft into Chenab from the NH44 at Seri in Ramban. Soon after receiving information, the SHO, Ramban, Inspector, Rajeshwar Singh and the Quick Response Team including the policemen and the local volunteers of Indian Red Cross Society made all efforts to search his body, but in vain. A case has been registered under 174 CrPc and inves- tigation initiated into the matter. A boy Ishfaq Ahmed Ganai,13, of Marnal Maligam at pres- ent Chandrog was reportedly washed away while bathing in Chenab in Ramban last evening and his body is still untrace- able. According to the eyewitnesses, when on seeing two boys getting washed away into the Chenab after diving into it another boy standing on the bank tried to save both of them, could manage to retrieve only one of them. Two held with 40 pouches of illicit liquor STATE TIMES NEWS BHADARWAH: Police on Thursday arrested two bootleg- gers and recovered 40 pouches of illicit liquor at Kalnie bridge, Thathri on Thursday. According to reports, on a specific information a Police team led by SHO Thathri Inspector Manjeet Singh laid a Naka at Kalnie bridge, Thathri and apprehended two boot- leggers, while they were on way to their native village. During checking, Police recovered 40 pouches of country made liquor from their possession. The accused have been identified as Joginder Singh son of Mulkh Raj Sharma resi- dent of Kandni, Kishtwar and Suresh Kumar son of Naib Chand Resident of Kuntwara at present staying at Kandni, Drabshalla, District Kishtwar. A case vide FIR No 42/2017 under section 48-A Excise Act was registered against them at Police Station Thathri. STATE TIMES NEWS VIJAYPUR: Former Minister and JKPCC General Secretary Manjit Singh appealed to government to direct Revenue Department not to harass displaced per- sons for one reason or other. Addressing gathering here at Haria Chak in Kathua, for- mer Minister said that the revenue department has turned into a corruption hub because they are deliberately harassing the Displaced Persons of POJK and Chamb, 1947, 1965 and 1971 who was preparing their doc- uments for package. He said that the package is not being given to the DPs even as two longs years have passed. They alleged the DP fami- lies are being forced to face harassment at the hands of revenue officials who allegedly demanding bribe though their agents to complete the paper formalities. "Formalities sought by the revenue department have become a source of exploita- tion of the DPs and they are being told to being one docu- ments or other. The govern- ment should ease the process of granting package to the DPs instead the process is made more complicated," said Manjit Singh. He said that the agents of revenue officials like Girdawar and Patwari demand huge bribe for every file to complete and people are forced to give them bribe. He said that the revenue records of DPs from 1965 and 1971 are in Delhi and records of DPs of 1947 is with the revenue department or with the PRO office. He said that the children of DPs should be given reserva- tion like KPs in educational institutions, and a board of the DPs should be constitut- ed. Later, he threatened that if their demands are not accept- ed and harassment of DPs is not stopped, they will come on the roads and hold protest against the Government. The minister directed departments to ensure unin- terrupted power supply, upgradation of roads and provision for adequate park- ing facility for the pilgrims. STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: District level committee headed by Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary has fixed the rates for agriculture operations including tractors and harvesters for regulating the prices in view of reports of unregulated heavy charges imposed on farmers. The committee has fixed rates for ploughing by trac- tor in Hilly and Plain areas, Threshing and Mechanical harvesting. In hilly areas of District Rajouri the rates for ploughing have been fixed as Rs 700 and Rs 750 per hour respectively for tractors upto 35 HP and above 35HP. In plain areas the rates to be charged during current year shall be Rs 760 and Rs 800 per hour for below and above 35 HP tractors respec- tively. Threshing of wheat would cost Rs 160 per quin- tal while as threshing of Maize has been fixed at the rate of Rs 110 per quintal. Rates have also been notified for mechanical harvesting of wheat both by way of reaper cum binder and tractor mounted reaper. Rate of Rs 1800/hour has been notified for area above 1 hectare or Rs 300 per kanal for area less than 1 acre in case of mechanical harvesting by reaper cum binder. Meanwhile, the rate notified for tractor mounted reaper for threshing has been noti- fied at flat Rs 800/hour. The rates were finalised after receiving inputs from Agriculture Department, Revenue authorities, Motor Vehicle Department, Legal Metrology, Krishi Vigyan Kendra and other specialized agencies. Resulting in the large scale damage to both the banks. The villages which gets affected by the floods in sub division Akhnoor are Lehairan, Sangrampur, Chanjwan, Bhour, Dalpat , Maira, Sitriwala, Chak Sikander on right bank and Garkhal, Fathu Kotli on left bank of river Chenab, among these Garkhal, Maira, Sitriwala, Chak Sikander are most vulnerable spots. SDM Akhnoor said that a joint control Room shall be set up in Akhnoor and committees at Tehsil level and village level shall be constituted for speedy communication in case of any eventuality. Duties were assigned to all the sectoral offi- cers for speedy communication, evacuation of sufferers, setting of rescue camps, management of camps, etc. Public Awareness system shall be installed at the impor- tant spots to aware the masses. SDM Akhnoor instructed to all the Tehsildars of Sub division Akhnoor to use flags of green, yellow and red colour to aware the people green colour signifies normal level of gauge, yellow signifies danger and red colour flag signifies evacuation. records of DPs from 1965and 1971 are in Delhi andrecords of DPs of 1947 is withthe revenue department orwith the PRO office.

He said that the children ofDPs should be given reserva-tion like KPs in educationalinstitutions, and a board ofthe DPs should be constitut-ed.

Later, he threatened that iftheir demands are not accept-ed and harassment of DPs isnot stopped, they will come onthe roads and hold protestagainst the Government.

STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: District levelcommittee headed by DeputyCommissioner, Rajouri DrShahid Iqbal Choudhary hasfixed the rates for agricultureoperations including tractorsand harvesters for regulatingthe prices in view of reportsof unregulated heavy chargesimposed on farmers.

The committee has fixedrates for ploughing by trac-tor in Hilly and Plain areas,Threshing and Mechanicalharvesting. In hilly areas ofDistrict Rajouri the rates forploughing have been fixed asRs 700 and Rs 750 per hourrespectively for tractors upto35 HP and above 35HP.

In plain areas the rates tobe charged during currentyear shall be Rs 760 and Rs800 per hour for below andabove 35 HP tractors respec-tively. Threshing of wheatwould cost Rs 160 per quin-tal while as threshing ofMaize has been fixed at therate of Rs 110 per quintal.Rates have also been notified

for mechanical harvesting ofwheat both by way of reapercum binder and tractormounted reaper. Rate of Rs1800/hour has been notifiedfor area above 1 hectare orRs 300 per kanal for arealess than 1 acre in case ofmechanical harvesting byreaper cum binder.Meanwhile, the rate notifiedfor tractor mounted reaperfor threshing has been noti-fied at flat Rs 800/hour. Therates were finalised afterreceiving inputs fromAgriculture Department,Revenue authorities, MotorVehicle Department, LegalMetrology, Krishi VigyanKendra and other specializedagencies.
