Feel free to bring extra $$$, we have scheduled field trips to GYPSY and Original Cyn's Boutique.

Sheep and Meat Goat Weigh-In

The Sheep and Meat Goat weigh-in will be held at the Lee County Fairgrounds April 25 and 26.

Exhibitors planning to show at the State Fair should weigh-in Friday evening, April 25th from 4:30-6:00 PM. Retinal scanning will be available during this time only.

County fair only exhibitors should weigh-in on Saturday April 26th from 9:00-11:00 AM.

Tags will be $2.00 each, retinal scanning will be $10.00 per animal and a maximum of 30 head may be identified.

Attention Swine Exhibitors!

Bucket/Bottle Calf Exhibitors

Pork Producers’ & Lee County Fair Scholarships

Are you planning on attending a university, vocational school, trade school, or community college? Get some financial assistance by applying for the Lee County Pork Producers Scholarship and the Lee County Fair Scholarships for the 2014-2015 school year.

To apply, download the forms from the Lee County Extension website, or pick up a form at our office. Follow the instructions on the forms and make sure to turn in your applications! The deadlines for applications are: Lee County Fair – April 11 Pork Producers – April 30 The applicant must be a current high school senior or a high school graduate.

All swine exhibitors must verify their county fair weigh-in info in 4hOnline prior to May 15. See the enclosed HelpSheet for instructions.

If you are planning to exhibit at the Iowa State Fair your animals must be tagged with Lee County DNA tags and entered in 4hOnline. Contact Emily or Barb in the extension office to arrange a time to pick up DNA tags, DNA tagger & an exhibitor envelope for DNA samples.

All DNA Samples and exhibitor envelopes must be returned to the extension office by April 28th. We will ID your animals in 4hOnline by May 1, then you MUST VERIFY all of your State Fair Entries by May 15th in order to exhibit at the Iowa State Fair.  

Record books for bucket/bottle calf projects are now available in the extension office! Stop in today to pick up your copy or visit the Lee County Extension Prepare for Fair website to download your copy today!

The Lee County Fair will be here before we know it! Some important dates to be aware of are:

April 25 – State Fair Sheep Weigh-in 4:30-6:00 P.M. – Lee County Fairgrounds April 26 – County Fair Sheep Weigh-in 9:00 – 11:00 A.M. – Lee County Fairgrounds April 28 – All State Fair Swine DNA Taggers, Tags, & Family Envelops must be returned to the office (to be mailed into the state) May 1 – State Fair Broiler ID Deadline May 5 – Fair books available in the Extension Office

May 15 – Deadline to ID the following animals on 4hOnline for State and County Fair: Breeding beef, dairy cattle, dairy goat, dog, horse, meat goat does. ALL of these entries MUST be ID’ed in 4hOnline by the 4-H’er by MAY 15 to be eligible for county fair! May 15 is also the deadline to verify sheep, meat goats and swine in 4hOnline. ALL county level and state fair entries MUST be verified in 4hOnline.

June 1 – County Fair entry forms are available at the Lee County Extension Office. Deadline for State Fair Market Broiler entry. State fair entry available in 4hOnline.

June 13 – County Fair Livestock Entry forms due in the Extension Office All livestock entries are due in the Lee County Extension Office no later than 4:30 P.M. on June 13, 2014. A $10.00 late fee, per exhibitor will be collected on all late entries. This is also the last day to ID all other county level animals in 4hOnline, this includes small pets, rabbits, fowl, and poultry.

July 1 – Art Hall Entry forms due in the Extension Office July 1 – State Fair Entry Deadline July 1 – State Fair Rabbit ID Deadline *Please contact Emily if you have questions about either the County or State Fair entry process.

Lee County Communications/Fashion Day

Back by popular demand! The Lee County 4-H will host our own Communications and Fashion Day! Judging will occur Monday, July 7th beginning at 3:00 PM at the Extension office. All 4-H members are encouraged to participate in a Communications project. Categories are: Clothing Selection, Fashion Revue, The $15 challenge, Educational Presentation, Working Exhibit, Share-The-Fun, and Extemporaneous Speaking. See the fair book or the 4-H Website for more information on communications projects!
