    1. Ethics in the Islamic Context

    Ethics, in the Islamic context, means principled human action,

    motivated and guided by the divine guidance (hidayah, wahi)

    and the model behavior of the Final Prophet (pbuh).

    Human actions are not supposed to be meaningless (abath),

    ust for fun, but based on good (maruf), virtue (birr), ethically

    permissible (halal) and right (haqq) therefore legitimate.

    If other!ise, such actions !ill fall in the category of

    denounced and bad (munkar), sinful (saiyah), undesirable

    (makruh) and prohibited (haram).
