Stimulus:
• Something that causes a response in an organism.
External Stimulus:
• Anything OUTSIDE an organism that causes a response.
• Examples: 1. Sound

3. Light
Internal Stimulus:
• Anything INSIDE an organism that causes a response in an organism.
• Examples1. Hunger
2. Thirst
3. Sleepiness
Phototropism
• A plant’s response to light.
• Example: A plant bending toward a sunlit window.
Gravitropism
• A plant’s response to gravity.
• Example: Root tips of plants growing down.
Thigmotropism
• A plant’s response to touch.
• During MIGRATION, HIBERNATION and ESTIVATION animals deal with harsh (difficult, hard) conditions
Migration
• To move from one place to another.
Hibernation
• A period of inactivity during the WINTER in which an animal survives on stored stored body fatbody fat and has lower body lower body temperature.temperature.
Estivation
• A period of reduced activity in the Summer.
Olfactory Cells
• Are receptors in the nose that allows you to smell.
• A dog’s sense of smell is about 1000 times more sensitive than a humans.
Water Cycle
• Is a continuous movement of water between the surface of the Earth and its atmosphere– It keeps the Earth’s fresh water supply
renewed.– Source of energy is the sun’s radiation.
• Ground Water: water beneath (under) the Earth’s surface.
• Watershed: the region of land that is drained by a river system.
