PUMP SHELL

1. Remove the cable guard and suction screen from the pump. Unbolt the pump end from the motor.

2. Clamp the pump end in a chain vise around the pump where the discharge head meets the pump shell. Unthread the motor bracket from the pump shell by rotating the motor bracket clockwise (left hand thread). NOTE: Only clamping the pump where the discharge head meets the shell prevents damage to the pump shell and hydraulic components.

5. Only perform this step if the upper rubber bearing is being replaced; otherwise move to step 6. Remove the bearing support in the discharge head by pushing down on it from the inlet side of the discharge. Ensure that the bearing support and upper bearing both come out from the pump casing.

1. Slide the hex sleeve onto the pump’s shaft first. Place all of the pump stage components onto the pump shaft. Ensure that each stage has the proper alignment of bottom disk, impeller, diffuser and phenolic washer (black side down) as shown in the call out.

3. Place the nylon washer on top of the pump’s shaft and begin threading the locking nut onto the top of the shaft. Insert a splined shaft tool into the pump’s shaft to prevent the pump shaft from rotating while the top locking nut is tightened.

4. Perform this step only if the bearing support and rubber bearing were removed; otherwise, continue to step 5. Ensure the rubber upper bearing is pressed into the upper bearing support. Make sure the alignment tabs are properly seated in the notches of the bearing support and the bearing is fully pressed into the holder. Insert the rubber bearing.

5. Slide the rotating assembly in to the pump shell from the bottom. It may be easier to place the upper bearing support onto the pump rotating assembly and slide the unit as a whole into the pump shell (only if the bearing support was removed in step 4). Make sure that the top hydraulic stage seats into the bottom of the discharge head.

6. Insert the check valve into the discharge head and tighten to 1.7 Nm (15 in-lbs) of torque (finger tight plus 1/8 turn) by threading it counter-clockwise (left hand thread).

7. With the pump shell secure in a chain vise where the discharge head meets the pump case, thread the motor bracket onto the bottom of the pump shell by turning it counter-clockwise (left hand thread) to a torque of 95-135 Nm (70-100 ft-lbs). Make sure the bracket does not cross thread with the threads on the pump shell.
