IS TAKING ON TECH
'The world’s best'
And 'Largest''Biggest'
Are words you'll often hear whenpeople talk about China
From Buildings
To Population
And Banks
A superlative is alwaysnearby when it comes to
China
And although America remains at the forefrontof technology adoption and innovation
China is never toofar behind
HERE ARE
WAYS
CHINAIS TAKING ON TECH
1.ROBOTS
China is getting ready for a robot revolution
by planning to automate the work currently
done by millions of humans
The idea is part of a bigger plan to reform
China’s economy while also realising the
production goals laid out in the
government’s latest economic blueprint
The economic blueprint aims to double per
capita income by 2020 from 2016 levels
with at least 6.5 percent annual growth. The
success of this could affect the strength of
the global economy
China became the world’s biggest market
for industrial robots in 2013, overtaking
Japan
And is expected to install more industrial
robots than any other country by 2017
Estimates say there will be an increase in
robotic density to over 100 robots per
10,000 workers by 2020

telecommunications, mobiledevices and online services

goods and services, behindthe United States

sports stars and celebrities
4. TECHNOLOGY PARTNERSHIPS
Many Chinese companiesface the challenge of
developing software and userinterfaces that appeal to a
global audience.
So have partnered withinternational sports stars and
celebrities to help promote theirproducts.
In 2012, Lenovo signed a three-yearsponsorship deal with the American
National Football League thatallowed it to use NFL trademarks in
its marketing.
They also hired NBA star Kobe Bryantfor their smartphone ads in Asia as
well as Hollywood actor AshtonKutcher for their marketing efforts in
the U.S.
WeChat recruited Lionel Messi asthe star of a new global advert for
the messaging app
Sporting goods company LiNing partnered with MiamiHeat guard Dwyane Wade

SPOTLIGHT ON QINGDAO
But Qingdao is putting itself onthe map when it comes to
technology
Or the tech capital of China
It may not be the biggestChinese city
Qingdao is more commonly knownas the sailing city of China, and is a
stopover location on the ClipperRound the World Yacht Race
But the sub-provincial city on theeast coast of China now sees
hi-tech as a major growth cluster
Qingdao even has a dedicated HiTech development zone to the north
of the city
And thirteen Fortune 500 companiesincluding, Lucent and Mitsubishi, have
established offices in the area
The zone has naturally become a hotspot for Chinese and foreign investors.
LMAX Exchange, a leading
international FinTech company
and Clipper Race partner, is
holding a major event in Qingdao
with its leading Chinese
customers being taken on team-
building sailing experiences, as
well as a special briefing and
reception.

the race.
