Catechetical Sunday

The 2017 theme will be "Living as Missionary Dis-ciples." Those who the Community has designated to serve as catechists will be called forth to be com-missioned for their ministry. Catechetical Sunday is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the role that

each person plays, by virtue of Baptism, in handing on the faith and being a witness to the Gospel. Cate-chetical Sunday is an opportunity for all to rededi-cate themselves to this mission as a community of

faith.

Thank you to all of our Catechists who give their time and talent to pass on the Faith at

Our Lady of Loretto.

CATECHISTS PRAYER Father of all families, you have called me to serve

the family in truth and love as a catechist. May I be faithful to this call, rooted in your Word, and open to the gifts of the Holy Spirit. May I use these gifts, especially the gifts of faith, hope, and love, to serve the family as a witness to you, who are love and life and the source and destiny of all families. Let your

Spirit enlighten my mind and strengthen my heart so that I can be a path of Christ’s love to families, es-

pecially those in need, the homebound and aged, the disabled and disheartened. Through the intercession of Mary and Joseph, I pray for the Church, the Bride

of Christ, whose mission to build a civilization of love passes through the family. Amen.

Immigration Enforcement Action Rapid Response Team

As part of a Marin County-wide network of Legal Observers, part of the Marin Rapid Re-sponse Network, Our Lady of Loretto is of-fering training to parishioners who are inter-ested in supporting the rights of the immi-grant community by appearing at, and ob-serving, ICE enforcement raids – primarily deportation actions – at homes and workplac-es. Throughout the county, Rapid Response Team members are being trained to provide first-hand evidence for use by immigration lawyers defending the constitutional rights of immigrants. Rapid Response Teams respond to alerts about ICE raids by going rapidly to the scene and providing video and other evi-dence that help those threatened by deporta-tion action. Rapid Response Teams lawfully act only in public spaces and do not demon-strate, engage in civil disobedience or inter-fere in ICE’s activities. A training session will be conducted in the OLL School Library on Thursday, September 28 beginning promptly at 7:00 pm, and will last two hours. For questions, call George Jurkowich: 310.503.8615.

FORGIVE OTHERS There are many kinds of alms the giving of which helps us to obtain pardon for our sins; but none is greater than that by which we forgive from our heart a sin that someone has committed against us. --St. Augustine

Father Brian’s letter will be back next week.
