This corps was formed in northern Norway in the summer of ..̂ 40 as the Nor-way Mountain Corps (Gebirgskorps Norwegen)«, From June 1941 it partici-pated in the oaiii^aign against the Soviet Union, fighting in the Murmansksector. In November 1942 it was redesignated the XIX Mountain Corps.It withdrew across northern Finland to Norway in the autumn of 1944.
