46 HIGHER DIPLOMA IN OFFICE ADMINISTRATION (3 Years, Higher Diploma) Program of Study Description: Students enrolled in this 3-Years program of study, earn a Higher Diploma in Office Adminis- tration. The program seeks to prepare responsible persons of Office administration. Addition- ally, it intends in the preparation of Office Directors with a lot of employment opportunities as Office Management in Governmental, semi-governmental, Banking and Private Sector. This program can constitute a basis of continuation of further studies for superior professional or academic studies. The Office Administration Programme consists of forty (40) courses and it requires a minimum of 180 ECTS credits to graduate and the passing mark is 50%. Learning Outcomes: Providing to students of essential knowledge and opportunities for application of fundamental principles, meanings and operations related with the office organization and administration. Development of skills, individual characteristics and behavior which are essential for successful and effective professional career. Acquiring a wide knowledge of professional world, recognize the main professional operations and the importance of individual contribution in the whole business organization. • Gaining knowledge and practical experiences of fundamental principles, concepts and processes concerning the planning of work, the relations between workers and the market researches. TYP 101 & TYP 102 TYPING I & II The aim of the course is to give students the opportunity to develop the ability to produce, using Greek and English Keyboard, accurate transcription in an acceptable and consistent (i.e. mailable) format.

COM 101 & COM 102 COMPUTER &WORD PROCESSING I & II Using the Computer and Managing Files (Windows 7) requires the candidate to demon-strate knowledge and competence in using the common functions of a personal computer and its operating system. Word Processing (Microsoft Word 2010) requires the candidate to demon-strate the ability to use a word processing applica-tion on a computer.

GSH 101 & GSH 102 GREEKSHORTHAND I & II The aim of this course is to offer the student an opportunity to develop the ability to listen and record accurately material (in Greek) dictated within a variable speed range up to 60 words per minute and to transcribe it accurately.

ENG 101 & ENG 102 ENGLISH I & II The course offers the students a rounded educa-tion on various issues connected with their future profession and the activities in the course books form a basic for them to start using the English Language effectively in a demanding and diversi-fied working environment.

SEC 101 & SEC 102 SECRETARIAL DUTIES I & IIThis course is concerned with the work role and responsibilities of secretaries and those employed in the administration, as well as the systems, methods and equipment they use in the course of their duties.

OFO 101 & OFO 102 OFFICEORGANIZATION I & IIThe main purpose of this course is to give students practical solutions to problems which arise in the organization of the secretarial office.

ACC 101 & ACC 102 BOOK KEEPING I & II The aim of this course is to enable candidates to develop an understanding of the basic principles of accounting.

BEC 101 & BEC 102 BUSINESS ENGLISH COMMUNICATION I & II The main purpose of the course is to develop professional English and the communication and language skills needed in business contexts.

GRE 101 & GRE 102 GREEK BUSINESS CORRESPONDENCE I & II With theoretical teaching, practical instructions and exercises, students get used to produce various kinds of business/commercial letters effectively affecting the public or private sectors also the employees as citizens.

TYP 201 & 202 TYPING III & IV The aim of the course is to give students the opportunity to develop the ability to produce, using Greek and English Keyboard, accurate transcription in an acceptable and consistent (i.e. mailable) format.

COM 201 & 202 ADVANCED COMPUTINGIII & IV Spreadsheets requires the candidate to understand the concept of spreadsheets and to demonstrate an ability to use a spreadsheet to produce accurate work outputs.

GSH 201 & 202 GREEK SHORTHAND III & IV The aim of this course is to offer the students an opportunity to develop the ability to listen to end record accurately material (in Greek) dictated within a variable speed range up to 90 words a minute and transcribe them accurately.

ENG 201 & 202 ENGLISH III & IV The structure of the course is such that is also prepares t for the students for the English for Business exam held by the LCCI and the students are advised accordingly to sit the first level of the Business English exam.

SEC 201 & 202 ADVANCED SECRETARIAL DUTIES III & IV The aim of this module is to provide a student with an opportun¬ity to develop the ability to under-stand the role and duties of a private secretary within an organization - as well as an awareness of business problems and the means to cope and deal with them.

PR 201 & 202 PUBLIC RELATIONS &PUBLICITY I & II The aim of this course is to enable candidates to develop an understanding of the nature of Public Relations and their applications through the descrip-tion of the role they play in society and in businesses.

Course SyllabusYEAR 2, ELECTIVES

ACC 201 & 202 BOOK KEEPING III & IV This course aims to enable candidates to develop an understanding of the basic principles underly-ing the recording of business transactions, and the ability to prepare and interpret accounts for sole traders, partnerships, non-trading organizations and limited companies. This course is very helpful for candidates who are working, or are preparing to work in an accounting environment maintain-ing financial records and preparing accounts.

BEC 201 & 202 BUSINESS ENGLISHCOMMUNICATION III & IV The syllabus deals both with how people commu-nicate in an English speaking working environ-ment but also with how they interact outside of the work environment.

YEAR 3, SEMESTER E & F

COM 301 & 302 COMPUTING I & II The first course section aims to give students the opportunity to understand some of the main concepts of Access, databases and demonstrate the ability to use a database on a computer. The students shall be able to create and modify tables, queries, forms and reports and prepare outputs ready for distribution. The module, MS EXCEL advanced, is to offer the user the possibility to use computer applications to produce equality upper level spreadsheets.

ENG 301 & 302 BUSINESS ENGLISH I & II The course is for learners who want to develop their English for working in the business sector as well as for their social and travel needs. Students are provided with the opportunity to practice all four language skills and they are provided with the linguistic tools to succeed in a business setting.

ACC 301 & 302 ACCOUNTING I & II This course is targeted at candidates with basic book-keeping knowledge who have interest to understand more précised Book-keeping applications. It includes the ledger accounts for various segments, preparation of final accounts and calculations for accounting ratios. This course will focus on preparing students to obtain LCCI Level 2 Book-keeping & Accounts Qualification or UNICERT Book keeping Level II.

HRM 301 & 302 HUMAN RESOURCEMANAGEMENT I & II This course provides students with the necessary knowledge on methods and techniques that both the entrepreneurs and the human resource managers design and implement for the human development of their business.

OB 301 & 302 ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOUR I & II This course aims to give students the information needed to effectively manage an organization.

TM 301 & 302 TIME MANAGEMENT I & II This course aims to give students guidelines for how to manage their time effectively, to achieve goals, identify stress and gradually released it.

OAU 301 OFFICE AUTOMATION The aim of the course is to provide the student with an in-depth understanding and practical experience of Office Automation as it applies to the services sector. On completion of the course, the student will be able to use with confidence the various modules that comprise InfoScreen Quorum (the leading suite of office automation integrated solutions for the services sector)

PSY 301 SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY A course designed to explore the various aspects enclosed in daily human interactions. The course aims to introduce Social Psychology to students and also to analyse the behaviour and how the individuals interact in its environment.

YEAR 3, ELECTIVES

PR 401 & 402 PUBLIC RELATIONS I & II The course is dealing with the theory of communi-cation. The concepts of public, public opinion, research, and the place of public relations in the organization are examined. Emphasis is given on designing public relations strategies and applica-tion of public relations methods, tools and techniques in maintaining effective relations with the different publics.

MAR 401 & 402 INTRODUCTION TOMARKETING I & II An introductory course designed to explore the marketing mix ingredients. Emphasis is also placed, on the analysis of the external factors of the business environment that influence marketing decisions.

BUS 401 & 402 INTRODUCTION TOBUSINESS I & II Emphasis is placed on the growing importance of the business environment changes globally, the market characteristics and the problems present to entrepreneurs. In addition, business models and customer segmentation that can help managers to analyse their business and develop the appropriate marketing strategies and business plan.
