Welcome back to our snowbirds, we hope you all had a nice summer. You will notice a few changes in and around the park, this is for everyone’s

safety. A USB charging station has been added under the bulletin board in the clubhouse for your

convenience, plus remember we do have wireless Internet available at the clubhouse, so stop in the office for the password.

Please remember overnight parking on the street is not permitted. Street parking is only permitted for short term. If you have overnight guests, they are to park at the clubhouse, if park-ing is not available in your carport. If you plan on having friends or family visit, please leave a copy of the rules for their review in your unit.

There have been owners that bring their grandchildren and guests to the pool during the hours reserved for adults only. The hours between 2PM & 5 PM are reserved for adults only.

The clubhouse and pool will be locked after 10 PM and will be reopened @ 8AM, unless an event is planned at the clubhouse

Remember to wait till the mailman has delivered ALL the mail before going to the boxes. The postman has requested this and would appreciate your cooperation.

Please do not leave your garbage out on Tuesdays when the compactor has been re-moved to be emptied.....

Pets Owners: Always remember to walk and keep your pets on YOUR OWN property and always clean up after your pet. It is against the rules to have your pet relieve itself

on other resident’s property. They are to be leashed AT ALL TIMES when outside.For everyone’s safety, please obey the 15 MPH speed limit. Residents who walk and ride

their bikes through our community should not be fearful of this enjoyment. This speed limit also includes Golf carts. If you own a golf cart, it is a motorized vehicle. Stay on the right side of the road and avoid driving on the sidewalks.

Anyone that is considering renting or buying a home, it is required to complete and pass a background check. The forms are available in the office.

If you rent or purchase a home before passing a background check, and then fail the check you will not be able to reside in the park.

Anyone selling their home should advise the potential buyer that this applies to them too. Be safe and do the background before moving in.

Residents’ Association President’s CornerAnn Santos

Welcome back to everyone that has been away over the summer. It’s good to have you back. The fall season sort of snuck up on us and suddenly there is a lot going on. To get you going in the morning the Pancake Breakfast is at 8:30 Saturday morning,

November 1. Rest up during the day so you can make it to the first dance of the season, the Halloween/Harvest Dance featuring “The Dune Doctor” as our entertainment, on November 1 at 7:00 in the clubhouse. This is a great way to socialize with your friends and neighbors, so put on your dancing shoes and have some fun.

There is lots more to follow so just be sure to check the bulletin boards as well as check the calendar in the Ledger. Some of the events are annual and you may say “been there, done that” but if you haven't seen it in a while or never, it will be brand new to you. We hope that you will support our events as they are always a lot of fun and the more people we have the more fun we have. For new residents it is a great way to meet your neighbors and socialize. When there is an event in the clubhouse you will see the Event Flag at the front entrance. That is a reminder that something is happening.

November 3 is our Association meeting at 7PM. Any nominations for the Board will be announced as well as taking nominations from the floor. We will also have the membership cards available for renewal or for new members. Dues are only $2.00 for the year and if you want to be able to vote in the December meeting you need to be a member by November 15. If you are a member but will not be at the December voting meeting you can get a Proxy from Louise Hecker so your vote can be counted. Hope to see you all there.

All Membership cards expire on October 31, 2014. Dues are only $2.00. If anyone is interested in becoming a member or wants to renew their membership, please contact any board member. Your membership card will be issued with a copy of the bylaws.

You must be a member to be nominated for the board at the November meeting and to vote at the December meeting.

Halloween/Harvest Dance

This year our Halloween Dance is on November 1. Halloween costumes are optional and we will have prizes for best costumes. Darrell Clanton, better known as the Dune Doc-tor, will be entertaining us. You have probably seen him at various clubs or down at the

We are changing our format a bit, hoping that more of you can be a part of the cof-fee hour. We used to have them on Wednesday mornings and our attendance was very low. Our Koffee Klatch will be on the third

Saturday morning of the month at 9:00. For November it will be the second Saturday the 8th because the Carport Sale is on the third Saturday the 15th. This will be a social time to have coffee and a donut with your friends. Do-nuts will be from Sunshine Bakery and the cost is just $1.00.

SUNCOAST WINGS LIGHTED CHRISTMAS PARADE

The Christmas season is right around the corner and Management and the Association have worked together to bring the Suncoast Wings to our community on December 22 for a special Christmas event. You may have seen them in the area and they participate in the

Seminole Christmas Parade. You will see 15 to 20 bikes and trikes decorated with thousands of lights. They will parade through our park, starting at around 6:30, making 2 complete rounds of the park so you won’t miss them. They will return to the clubhouse where you can get a better, up close and personal look at their bikes. Refreshments will be in the clubhouse after the parade. The Suncoast Wings have two charities which are non-profit. CLOTHES FOR KIDS and TOYS FOR PINELLAS KIDS. Donations are Welcome and will be accepted during the parade and at the clubhouse, but they are not required. We hope you will not miss this, it will be an awesome sight.

Manatee Awareness Month. The manatee is the official marine mammal of Florida, a gentle, slow-moving animal protected by the Federal Endangered Species Act as well as Florida state law. But manatees face the risk of extinction due to human activity, including the loss of their warm water winter habitat. Horses can’t talk, but they do communicate—with each other

No one can talk to a horse, of course (as the theme song for TV’s Mr. Ed tells us), but horses can communicate with each other. Not by talking, but with their eyes and ears.

Scientists at the University of Sussex have observed that ear position is an important visual signal that horses see and respond to. In a study, they posted life-sized photographs of horses between two feeding buckets. The photo would show which bucket the horse was watching. As part of the test, the scientists blocked physical cues from the pictures, particularly views of

the eyes and ears.

Their findings indicated that horses depend on the orientation of other horses’ heads to locate food, an ability they lose when those cues aren’t visible. The results seem to dispute the common theory that animals whose eyes are on the sides of their heads can’t pick up information based on
