Blank Preparation and Turning Note: This kit requires a lathe-mounted drill chuck and a cone-point live center. 1. Your blank should be at least 1" square and 3/4" to 1 3 8" long. 2. Drill the blank with a 4mm drill bit at a speed of 900 to 1200 RPM. 3. Mount a drill chuck in the lathe, then mount the stepped end of the mandrel in the drill chuck. Unscrew and remove the other end of the mandrel. 4. Thread the blank onto the mandrel rod until it is tight against the mandrel. 5. 1. Your blank should be at least 1" square and 3/4" to 13⁄8" long.

5. Thread the other end of the mandrel back onto the mandrel rod and tighten against the blank.

6. Tighten the tailstock (with cone-point live center) into the dimpled end of the mandrel. Do not over-tighten, as this might damage the mandrel.

7. Turn the blank to the desired shape, making sure the surfaces next to the mandrel ends are turned to the same diameter as the mandrel ends.

AssemblyNote: This kit includes an optional, non-threaded Decorative Cap intended to hang just below the Neck Lanyard. This Cap can be omitted if a simpler look is desired.

1. Make a loop with the Plumb Line by holding it at the center and bringing the two ends together. Tie a knot about 3/4” up from the ends and trim the excess.

2. Use the tip of a straightened paper clip to press the looped end of the Plumb Line into the wide opening and then through the narrow opening of the Knurled Cap.

3. If you are using the non-threaded Decorative Cap, tie another knot in the Plumb Line about where you want the Cap to be. Then use the tip of the paper clip to press the looped end of the Plumb Line into the wide opening and then through the narrow opening of the Decorative Cap.

4. Determine how long you want the Neck Lanyard to be. Cut to size.

5. Thread one end of the Neck Lanyard through the loop of the Plumb Line and then tie the ends of the Lanyard together.

6. Screw the Tip onto one end of the Threaded Rod.

7. Thread the blank onto the other end of the Threaded Rod until it seats against the Tip.

8. Screw the Threaded Rod into the Knurled Cap and tighten to complete the assembly.
