Creado en el 2002 por el Instituto Cervantes de Manila, se celebra cada octubre en colaboración con la Embajada de España en Filipinas. El festival ha crecido a lo largo de los años hasta erigirse en el más importante escaparate de cine español en el Sudeste asiático.

En esta edición te invita a disfrutar de una selección de obras de calidad, muchas de ellas premiadas en festivales de prestigio internacional. No se trata únicamente de una cita con el cine español, pues el Festival también propone una mirada al cine latinoamericano y a las voces surgidas de un continente que se expresa mayoritariamente en español. Comedia, drama, suspense, animación, documental y cortometraje, son algunos de los géneros que encontrarás en la programación del festival.

INAUGURACIÓN OPENING NIGHT

Después de muchos años, dos amigos de la infancia se reúnen para pasar unos días juntos. El primero, Julián, es un actor argentino exiliado en Madrid. El segundo, Tomás, un matemático que trabaja en una universidad canadiense. Junto a Truman, el perro de Julián, ambos viven unos días maravillosos recordando los viejos tiempos. Este encuentro será también el último adiós.

After so many years, two childhood friends reunite to spend some unforgettable days together. Julián is an Argentine actor exiled to Madrid. The second one is Tomás, a mathematician who works in a University in Canada. The two men, accompanied by Julian's faithful dog, Truman, will share some splendid moments as they reminisce the past and this reunion is also set to be their final goodbye.

Dedicado no sólo al cine español, propone una mirada al cine latinoamericano y a las voces surgidas de un continente que se expresa mayoritariamente en español. Por esta razón, en esta nueva versión, el Festival contará con la proyección de galardonados filmes procedentes de Chile, Colombia, Argentina y Venezuela.

Entre las películas que componen el programa latinoamericano figuran la deliciosa comedia venezolana Azul y no tan rosa, dirigida por Miguel Ferrarien en el 2012; así como el interesantísimo drama chileno de Alejandro Fernández, Aquí no ha pasado nada (2016).

Y desde Argentina nos llega la premiadísima película El clan (2015), un drama policial de Pablo Trapero, quien representa su país dentro del festival, junto al thriller hispano-argentino Cien años de perdón de Daniel Calparsoro.

Dedicated not only to Spanish cinema, also offers a glimpse into Latin American films and the voices of a continent in which the vast majority expresses oneself in Spanish. As such, Pelikula this year will feature several award-winning films from Chile, Colombia, Argentina and Venezuela.

Among the films that make up the Latin American program this year is the delightful Venezuelan comedy Azul y no tan rosa (May Straight Son), directed by Miguel Ferrari in 2012; as well as the 2016 Chilean drama by Alejandro Fernández entitled Aquí no ha pasado nada (Much Ado about Nothing). UNA VENTANA A LATINOAMÉRICAA WINDOW TO LATIN AMERICA

Gracias a la colaboración de la Embajada de Colombia en Corea del Sur y de la delegación diplomática de Colombia en Manila, el Festival programará por primera vez La Noche del Cine Colombiano. La cita se celebrará el 10 de octubre y arrancará a las siete de la noche en la sala Greenbelt 3 Cinema 1 con la proyección de la película de aventuras El abrazo de la serpiente, dirigida por el colombiano Ciro Guerra en 2015. Ganadora del Premio Art Cinema del festival de Cine de Cannes y una de las producciones cinematográficas nominadas a Mejor Película en Lengua Extranjera de los Premios Oscar 2016.

Tras la proyección de El abrazo de la serpiente, La Noche del Cine Colombiano continuará con el estreno a las 21:30 h. de La tierra y la sombra, drama del director César Acevedo.

Thanks to the collaboration of the Colombian Embassy in South Korea and to the Diplomatic Delegation of Colombia in Manila, this year’s festival will feature The Night of Colombian Cinema for the very first time. This event will take place on the 10th of October and will begin at 7pm at Greenbelt 3 Cinema 1. To kick-off the event the movie El abrazo de la serpiente directed by the Colombian Ciro Guerra in 2015 will be screened. Winner of the Filmmakers Fortnight Art Cinema Award at the last Cannes Film Festival and nominee at the 2016 Oscars for the Best Foreign Language Film category.

After the screening of El abrazo de la serpiente, the Night of Colombian Cinema will feature the film entitled La tierra y la sombra directed by César Acevedo at 9:30pm.

Diego, a successful photographer, decides to formalize his relationship with his partner Fabrizio and live with him. 5th July 2013. Old party treasurer, Luis Barcenas, is transferred from the prison to court in order to testify. Up until now, he's denied any connection with the so-called Barcenas Paper's which proof the existence of an unofficial accounting system inside the conservative Spanish party (Partido Popular). However, after 18 days in prison, he decides to change his statement. This films portrays what happened that day in that court room.

A group of thieves led by a man called “El Uruguayo” robs a bank in Valencia. The intention was to steal as many safety boxes as possible and later flee through a dug tunnel that communicates the building with an abandoned subway station. The real intent of the robbers was that they want to get their hands on box 314, property of Gonzalo Soriano, a former member of the government who left documents with compromising information. The gang's plans start to go awry when the tunnel is flooded by heavy rain, leaving them with no escape.

Other members of the family are accomplices in a greater or lesser degree of the crimes of the clan. They make a living out of the profits of ransoms paid by relatives of the hostages.

The temporary employment agency sends José to an industrial pavilion in the outskirts of Madrid to work for a taping of a New Year's Eve gala show. In 1953, Killian left the Huescan mountain to embark on a journey with his brother towards Fernando Poo an old Spanish colony in Equatorial Guinea. Their father was waiting for them in the Sampaka farm where some of the best cocoa in the world are being cultivated. The siblings will be able to discover later on that the social life in the colony is more pleasant and delightful than in gloomy and restricted Spain and they will live be able to live amongst the colonizers and the natives and there they wlll be able to know the essence of friendship, passion, love and hate.

Jerez de la Frontera, 2012. Rocio is a single mother who is unemployed. She receives neither welfare, subsidy nor help from her family. She lives with her 8-year old son in a rented flat unpaid for months. Her landlord continually threatens to kick her out.
