Come and take in all the exhibits by our great community and the amazing events. Our theme this year is “APRONS AND OVERALLS”. This again is a fun theme that can be dressed up. So have fun with it. We are also celebrating 100 years of 4H in Ontario. Let’s take the time to appreciate our past so we can better our future in the community. GO 4H! On behalf of the Harriston Home Craft Divisions, I would like to personally invite all of our families, friends and neighbours to come out on September 18, 19, 20 to our wonderful fair. Entries must be listed on an entry form complete with mailing address, which must be LEFT WITH THE SECRETARY AT THE TIME OF ENTRY. For entry forms and tickets please pickup at the Royal Bank - Harriston, L & M - Harriston, North Wellington Co-op - Harriston and Home Hardware - Harriston.6 - The Directors in charge of any department have the authority to remove any article they consider not fit to be on exhibition. Entries must be neat, properly pressed and current styles. RULES FOR HOMECRAFT DIVISIONAll new exhibitors first year membership FREE!

1 - Exhibitors fee of $5.00 must be paid on or before making entries. PLEASE CHECK WITH THE SECRETARY OF THE FAIR TO SEE IF ENTRY FEE WAS DEDUCTED FROM LAST YEAR’S PRIZE MONEY. $5.00 will be deducted from next year’s exhibitor’s fee.2 - Anyone winning more than $15.00 prize money will have 10% deducted from the total winnings.3 - Arena door will be open at 8:00 am on Friday morning. All exhibits must be in the arena in their proper places by 11:00 am on Friday and will remain on display until 3:30 pm on Sunday, when removal must be made between 3:30 & 6:00 pm EXCEPTIONS: 1) Prize baking that is retained by the donor must be picked up Friday between 6:00 and 7:00. 2) Only one serving of cakes, pies and tarts need be left after Friday night. Small plates will be provided for the serving to be left on display. The baking must be removed between 6:00 and 7:00 pm Friday.

2/3 cup chopped prunes1 cup natural wheat bran1 cup buttermilk or soured milk2 tablespoons shortening at room temperature1 egg1/4 cup molasses1/3 cup chopped dates1 cup all purpose flour2 teaspoons baking powder1/2 teaspoon baking soda1/4 teaspoon salt

Place Prunes in a sieve and place over boiling water for at least 5 minutes to soften and plump them. Soak bran in milk. In a deep bowl, beat shortening, egg, and molasses. In mixing bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, soda and salt. Add egg mixture, prunes, and bran. Stir just until flour is moistened. Spoon batter into greased muffin cups. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes or until done. Makes 12-15 muffins.

NUTRITION: Each muffin has 150 calories. Good source of iron.
