The Nicene Creed We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became truly human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father, who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

God of all mercy, we confess that we have sinned against you, opposing your will in our lives. We have denied your goodness in each other, in ourselves, and in the world you have created.

We repent of the evil that enslaves us, the evil we have done, and the evil done on our behalf. Forgive, restore, and strengthen us through our Savior Jesus Christ, that we may abide in your love and serve only your will. Amen.

Absalom Jones 2015 - FREE EVENT

The Absalom Jones Annual celebration will be held at Christ Church Cathedral on Saturday, February 14, 2015. The format will be a Symposium and Festive Eucharist. The Symposium will begin at 9:00 am and conclude at 3:15 pm followed by the Festive Eucharist at 3:30 pm featuring the world acclaim Jazz ensemble, “Theodicy” along with a Diocesan Mass Choir. The theme for this year’s celebration is: “Renewing Our Commitment to the Ministry of Social Justice and Reconciliation.” The keynote speaker for the Symposium will be The Rev. Dr. Clarence G. Newsome, President of the Underground Railroad Freedom Center and the preacher The Rev. Dr. Kelly Brown Douglas, the Elizabeth Conolly Todd Distinguished Professor of Philosophy and religion at Goucher College in Baltimore, Maryland. She is also a leading voice in the development of womanist theology. All are invited to be part of this creative and timely Symposium and Festive Eucharist.

Soul Collage Workshop, March 13th - 14th at the EASE Gallery Art as a Spiritual Connection™ and Praxis Communities will offer a SoulCollage® Workshop on Friday, March 13th to Saturday, March 14th. SoulCollage® is a creative art experience that combines creativity, spirituality, and psychology. Through a simple process of cutting and pasting images from magazines, participants will create a unique set of cards that will help them access their inner wisdom, quiet their thinking mind, and allow space for the voice of the Holy Spirit to emerge.
