Offboarding is the strategic process for transitioning employees out of an organization, and according to a recent Aberdeen report, only 29 percent of organizations have a formal program in place.

Strong employer branding is more important than ever, and your online presence must portray you as a successful, socially responsible organization that’s a great place to work.

Treat them well when they are departing and they will serve as your best ambassadors.

Reason #2: Your BoomerangsIt’s far from unusual for ex-employees to be re-hired once they realize what they miss about your company! Due to their comprehensive knowledge of the organization and experience in the industry, upon return they are often your strongest employees. Effective offboarding ensures that you end on good terms and leave the door open for a continuation of the employment relationship in the future.

Considering that most people are now changing jobs every 3-5 years, chances are your departing employee will end up as your freelancer, partner, or client at some point.

Former employees are a powerful recruitment source.
