● Two types:– PORTRAITS: bust, very detailed and
realistic
– HISTORICAL RELIEFS: that depicted military victories on triunfal arches and commemorative columns.

● PAINTINGS: imitated marble, depicted buildings, landscapes, mythology.
● MOSAICS: used small stones or tesseras to get geometric designs, scenes from mythology, daily life, etc.
7. THE END OF WESTERN ROME: THE GERMANIC INVASIONS
● The Germanic people settle on the northern borders of the Roman Empire.
● They were organised in tribes and had tribal chiefs● The lived from hunting, livestock and agriculture.● In the 3rd century, the Germanic barbarians began to invade the Roman
Empire.● The barbarians finally conquered the Western Roman empire in 476 AD.
