I like to play football, soccer,baseball, and hockey. I even like toplay video games, and watch t.v. Myfamily is my mom, my dad, my twobrothers, and my little sister. Myfavorite subject in school is math. Ihave lots of friends, their names areKenyon B., Devon E., Shane B.,Brandon H., Aiden L., Sam G., GrantP., Derek M., Paul N., Mitchel S.,Carter P., Tyler, and Shane whomoved away. I chose this animalbecause it is one of my favoriteanimal, and because it’s cool.

Did you know that the kangaroobelongs to a large family ofmany as sixty species ?Kangaroos carry their youngin a pouch. A kangaroo’sstatus is vulnerable, exept theTasmanian forester kangaroo,which is an endangered specieunder the list of EndangeredSpecies Act. Kangaroos liveor travel in groups or “mobs”,dominating by the biggestmale.

The Early Years

The female usually gives birthto one at a time. Newbornsusually weigh as little as 0.03ounces on birth. Once afterbirth, the joeys [babykangaroos] hops into themother’s pouch which it willnurse and continue to growand develop. Red kangaroojoeys don’t leave the pouchuntil they’re 8 months old. Butthe Gray kangaroo joeys don’tleave until they’re almost 1year old

Kangaroos live in forests,woodland areas, grassyplains, and savannas.

What’s on the Menu?

The kangaroo is a grazingherbivores, that means thattheir diet consits mainly of thegrasses. Kangaroos cansurvive long periods withoutwater. Mostly all thekangaroos also feed onmoisturefilled succelentplants.

Kangaroos use their tailsfor balancing. Kangarooshave z shaped legs. Thekangaroos can speed up to30 mph and can leap 30feet.

Do you know how to identify akangaroo? It’s by their noses.A Walloroo has a large blackbare patch around his. A Ared kangaroo has aboomerang-shaped black barepatch on his nose. The graykangaroo’s nose is coveredwith hairs, except for thenostrils.
