Current status of catalogues

New catalogues

● NCIMB phages catalogue (69 strains) on the main site

and mirrors

● NCIMB plasmids catalogues (127 elements) still on the

test site, waiting for final approval by CABRI-TC

Updates of catalogue

Catalogues should be updated at least once a year

Since Paris we had 3 deadlines

• January 2003: animal cell lines and plasmids

Submitted and updated DSMZ/MUTZ for cell lines

and BCCM/LMBP (Literature links) for plasmids

• February 2003: other catalogues

none submitted

• March 2003: bacteria

none submitted

New web site

Important comunication to all partners:

Implementation of new web site (end of May 2003)

● Will be based on SRS 7

● Will include current features (shopping cart application)

● Will include revision of simple search feature

● GUI will remain the same

New web site

In order to achieve this goal

● Our activity will be devoted to migration of catalogues

structures from SRS 5 to SRS 7.

● Submission (via ftp or by e-mail) will be stopped

● Catalogue updates will not be implemented until end of

May 2003

● Update of catalogues will be delayed

Web site contents

Web Site contents will remain the same, only SRS engine will change

● Entire structure and architecture of web site is not going

to change

● Painless migration from AIX to Linux server

● Web site with SRS 7 implementation is available at

URL http://srs7.cabri.org

● Incomplete structure (Shopping Cart and Simple Search

not included)

Simple Search feature

● Fully functional on the new web site with SRS 7

● Based on last ideas, not working on linux and SRS 5.1

● Global query --> Count of hits listed in Summary page

● From summary page --> Selection of desired subsets

SRS 7 server availability:

● In test phase at URL -http://srs7.cabri.org-

● It will replace older version (5.1 and 6)

● Improved XML support

● New Features, new GUI (more user friendly)

SRS 7 implementation● Catalogues imported from older versions

● Rebuilt Structure and Syntax files for all catalogues

● Improvements in indexing of flat file is ongoing

● Focus on main fields (Name, Other Collection Numers,

Literature) is giving expected results

● Help from SRSvisadmin (tool for administration of SRS

libraries)

CABRI Web Site: SRS 7

SRS 7 Implementation for Simple Search and Shopping Cart● Basic SRS is free for academics

● Documentation is lacking (really lacking!)

● SRS interface can be adapted (icarus, perl, javascript)

● Support from Lion Bioscience has been requested (BV)

● Short stay in Cambridge foreseen (april 2003)
