We welcome you in Marrakech and thank you for your participation in the Second World Human Rights Forum (WHRF).
After Brazil, Morocco is proud to hold this event, which brings together more than 6,000 participants from some one hundred countries, representing local, regional and international NGOs, United Nations agencies, governments, national human rights institutions, international organizations, professional groups, political leaders, global human rights and development stakeholders, trade unions and corporations.
This programme-guide is intended to inform you about the arrangements put in place to ensure the success of this event. You will find the programme of meetings and activities by category, to be held at several sites.
The Organising Committee established two villages : Village du Forum at Bab Ighli and Village du Monde at Bab Jdid, situated close to each other.
The following events are planned in the Village du Forum :
• Opening and closing plenaries ;
• All Thematic Forums (page 8), in rooms named after figures who have left their mark on the progress of human rights in Morocco;• Le Centre médias ;
• Media Centre;.
• Forum Web TV and radio.
In Village du Monde, you will find stands for associations and institutions, a space devoted to activities for children, cultural activities proposed by participants and two exhibitions: Stamps for Human Rights and Palestinian Refugees from 1948 to the Present Day.
Other activities are held in the following spaces :
• Special Events (page 22) are held in hotel rooms ;
• Internal Activities (page 28) are held at different sites and are only accessible to members of the organising networks ;
• Trainings (page 32) are held in hotel rooms ;
• Self-directed Workshops (page 36) are held mostly in summering centres, mostly located in Quartier Targa ;
• Finally, artistic and cultural events are scheduled at various sites listed in the Cultural Program (page 46).
