Already 50 years have passed since KTK Kühlturm started the development, production, sales andservicing of cooling towers and re-cooling systems. We have grown steadily since then, extendedour range of products and created new jobs.
Throughout these years, we have produced more than 10,000 cooling towers that are currentlyoperating in more than 100 countries. Without the trust of our customers and the tireless efforts ofour employees, this successful development would never have been possible.
For decades our company has stood for cooling towers of excellent quality – not only in standardsizes but also in the form of specialised constructions in any given dimensions. The consistent pro-duction using high quality materials and components, the constant optimisation of our equipmentand processes as well as our strong customer orientation in all areas of our business are funda-mental components of our philosophy – and will continue to be so in the future. Our Claim: The Optimal Cooling Tower Solution
The Kühlturm GmbH was founded in 1963 in Karlsruhe under the managementof Dr. Albert Saetzler and Rico Fridolin Kundert. Right from the start they wan-ted to win customers in this field by providing first-class services.
The customers should be provided with solutions that met their requirements exactly and, through the use of high quality materials, should be reliable and durable. Stainless steel was used due to its excellent properties and became the preferred material for the housing, remaining so through to today.
The new company quickly won new customers due to its commitment and fle-xibility. Within a few years of starting, contract manufacturers were no longer employed and the company was able to continue operations with its own production capacity. Thanks to the trust placed in us by our customers we con-tinued to grow, which made it necessary to move to a new and larger facility in Durmersheim in 2010. Here we have optimal conditions for working even faster, more efficiently and more flexibly.
Today we are a strong medium-sized company with a broad range of productsthat, in addition to construction quality, also impress with characteristics suchas ease of use and quiet operation. The claim of our founder to offer optimalcooling tower solutions remains both a duty and an incentive.

Cooling Processes: Always The Best Performance
Our cooling towers and re-cooling systems are used in many indust-ries and applications, from air conditioning and building automationto industrial process water cooling. Depending on the requirements,different cooling procedures can be considered.
Cooling by evaporative cooling towers: This process involves open and closed cooling circuits. The water to be cooled only comes into contact with the ambient air in cooling towers with open circuits, notin cooling towers with closed circuits.
Cooling by dry coolers: with dry coolers the liquid to be cooled is distributed to the various tubes of the heat exchanger. The difference in temperature between the heat exchanger and the ambient air allows the heat to dissipate from the surface of the heat exchanger.
Cooling by dual systems: in summer, dual systems the evaporation heat of the water, in winter they dissipate the heat using the differen-ce in temperature with the ambient air. In cooler periods this means that the plant works like a dry cooler, only when the ambient air tem-

perature is high is the heat exchanger surface moistened.

KI Model Series:Pressure ventilated evaporative cooling towers for closed circuits with radial ventilator arranged at the side. Used primarily in cases where high demands are made on the quality of cooling water, e.g. for cooling of machinery with narrow cooling ducts. Hydraulically simple integration due to the closed circuit. No direct contact of am-bient air with the cooling water.
KAD Model Series:Pressure ventilated evaporative cooling towers for open circuits with axial ventilator. Open cooling towers have the maximum power den-sity and are primarily suitable for high performance. Thanks to its simple construction and small space requirement, this model series is suitable for nearly all areas in which cooling water temperatures below ambient temperature is required.

Our Product Range: Impressive Diversity
KAVH Model Series:Hybrid re-coolers for closed circuit with axial ventilator for year-round cooling requirements. Suitable for ventilation and air conditioning and also for many areas of industrial process water cooling at loca-tions with year-round cooling requirements. Uses the temperature difference between summer and winter. The model series KAVH is hygiene certified.
KP Model Series: Evaporative cooling towers with plate heat exchanger and radial ventilator at the side. This model series is used wherever the cooling water of the primary circuit must not come into contact with the am-bient air – i.e. areas of application similar to that of closed circuit cooling towers.
KUD + KUI model series:Evaporative cooling towers for open circuit with radial ventilator ar-ranged below the filling material. A housing of stainless steel, along with a corresponding design allows for aggressive circuit water and polluted ambient air to be tolerated. The KU model series is distingu-ished by the fact that the noise level can be optimally reduced. It can be supplied in larger units, and requires a smaller foot print.

KL Model Series:Dry coolers from KTK are primarily used in applications where high demands are made on quality, materials, flexibility, efficiency and noise emissions. Suitable for applications with cooling water tempe-ratures that may be higher than the ambient air temperature (e.g. air cooled condensers of chillers).
Highest Standards – Continuously ImprovedWe are constantly working on the improvement of our cooling to-wers to meet present day demands. At the same time we are conti-nually developing new ideas to optimise our portfolio and important cooling tower details; for example with sloped tray bottoms or alter-native versions of mist eliminators/coils in stainless steel.
Efficiency and HygieneKTK has for decades concentrated on issues of efficiency and hygi-ene and because of its wide product range of evaporative, dry and hybrid appliances, can offer the most economical solutions with the lowest CO2 emissions.
Fully Welded Cooling TowersCompletely made of stainless steel, fully welded cooling towers allow for an easy chemical or hot steam cleaning, thereby meeting even the most stringent requirements in terms of durability and hygiene. KTK Kühlturm Karlsruhe is certified in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001. In addition, our cooling towers bear the GS mark for tested safety.
The membership of our company in the German Associ-ation for Air and Water Hygiene (DFLW) is also proof of quality. Our high standards can be seen in many construc-tion details:

Service: Your Cooling Tower in The Best of Hands
It goes without saying that we not only advise, plan, de-sign and manufacture, but also offer all-round support for cooling towers – regardless of the manufacturer.
AssemblyUpon request we supply cooling towers with different spe-cialised accessories and complete internal cabling to a terminal box attached to the cooling tower. Delivery and installation of the plant, even under difficult conditions, is a matter of course for us. Our experienced and practi-sed installation teams place the cooling towers with the right equipment in position, install them ready for use and connect them. This service applies to manufacturers of all kinds.
MaintenanceOur systems are robust and easy to maintain. However, we recommend that all equipment is regularly maintained. For this reason we offer appropriate maintenance contracts. The maintenance work includes, for example, cleaning,

examining and identifying possible defects including their documentation, preventive replacement of parts subject to wear and tear, etc.
RepairsIf ever any repair or overhaul should be necessary, we take care of it. The KTK Service Team is available on standby around the clock to ensure immediate help. Sealing, new bearings for motors or ventilators, replacing or providing parts, optimizing energy consumption: our specialists are familiar with all makes, locate the problem quickly and rec-tify it, so that uninterrupted operation can be resumed as soon as possible. We carry out general overhauls at fixed prices and with a warranty.
Supply of spare parts/rental cooling towersEach system supplied has a corresponding list of spare parts; so when needed, the necessary part can be quickly identified and ordered. Most spare parts are held in stock and can be delivered straight away. For cooling towers of other manufacturers we willingly take care of the supply of spare parts. In cases of emergency or short-term needs, customers can also rent cooling towers from us.

Pipe construction:Kliewe GmbH plans, implements and supervises pipework systems, espe-cially complex pipework systems including valves. We bring the customers requirements, procedural requirements and legal provisions into line.
Steel construction:The slogan of Kliewe GmbH is „Everything from one source“. To make this possible, along with tank construction, equipment and pipework construction, we also carry out steel construction and welding. We manufacture in accordance with the large qualification certificate of DIN 18800
Welding:As a welding specialist Kliewe only uses the most modern welding equip-ment. Automatic microprocessor controlled orbital machines complement our equipment and ensure an excellent and uniform quality of welding. The technical staff is a team of one hundred people. Eighty percent of the team have a welding certificate in acc. with DIN 287-1, which are supported by procedure tests acc. to DIN 288-1.

Schweißtechnik: Als Spezialist auf dem Gebiet der Schweißtechnik setzt Kliewe nur modernste Schweißgeräte ein. Automatische, mikroprozessorgesteuerte Orbitalmaschinen ergänzen den Gerätepark und sichern eine qualitativ hervorragende, gleichmäßige Schweißnahtgüte. Das Fachpersonal besteht aus einem Team von einhundert Personen. Achtzig Prozent des Teams verfügen über eine Schweißprüfung nach DIN 287-1, welche durch Verfahrensprüfungen nach DIN 288-1 unterstützt werden.

Wir begleiten Sie von der Idee bis zur Realisierung Die Kliewe GmbH ist ein führendes Hand-werksunternehmen im Bereich des industriellen Anlagenbaus. Mit Liebe zum Detail und einem hohen Maß an Qualität planen, beraten und realisieren wir Anlagen in der chemischen, Werft-, petrochemischen, Pharma-, Nahrungsmittel- und Getränkeindustrie. Wir begleiten Sie von der Idee bis zur Realisierung und auch weiter mit individueller Beratung und Wartung Ihrer Anlagenkomponenten.
Behälterbau: Problemlos fertigt die Kliewe GmbH Anlagen-komponenten, die der Druckgeräterichtline, der Verordnung über brennbare Flüssigkeiten oder dem Wasserhaushaltsgesetz §19I unterliegen. Ferner besitzt die Kliewe GmbH für verschiedene Schweißverfahren die Verfahrensprüfung nach AD-2000-Merkblatt HP2.1 für eine Vielzahl von Werkstoffen, so dass Schweiß-arbeiten auch an überwachungsbedürftigen Anlagen durchgeführt werden können.
Rohrleitungsbau: Die Kliewe GmbH plant, realisiert und über-wacht Rohrleitungssysteme, insbesondere auch komplexe Molch-Rohrleitungssysteme inkl. Armaturen. Wir bringen dabei die Kundenwünsche, verfahrenstechnische Anforderungen und gesetzliche Bestimmungen in Einklang.
