The above image shows the comparison of the traditional (4) 1500 watt metal halides light fixturesmounted at 30` (left) to (4) GAU-LB-500W-LED-480V 500 watt LED light fixtures mounted to a height of30` The area being illuminated by each tower is 300` in length and 250` in width. Unlike the metal halidelight fixtures, there are no hot spots with these LED fixtures. This high output LED light fixture providesan even beam spread over the targeted work area without overcast, glare, light spillage, and wastedillumination. Color rendering is also increased with LED light plants, providing a more realistic night visionthat more closely resembles natural daylight illumination.
LED Benefits: Unlike gas burning and arc type lamps that have glass bulbs,LEDs have no filaments or fragile housings to break during operation and/ortransportation. Instead of heating a small filament or using a combination ofgases to produce light, light emitting diodes (LEDs) use semi-conductivematerials that illuminate when electric current is applied, providing instantillumination with no warm up or cool down time before re-striking. Because thereis no warm up period, this light can be cycled on and off with no reduction inlamp life.LED lights run at significantly cooler temperatures than traditional metal halideand high pressure sodium lights and contain no harmful gases, vapors, ormercury, making them both safer and more energy efficient. No extra energy iswasted in cooling enclosed work areas due to external heat emissions from bulbtype lights, and the operator risks associated with traditional lighting methods,such as accidental burns and exposure to hazardous substances contained in theglass bulbs, are eliminated. In addition, LEDs are also safer for the environmentas they are 100% recyclable, which eliminates the need for costly special disposalservices required with traditional gas burning and arc type lamps.Heat Management: Heat is the single largest factor in premature LED failureand color shifting. These LED units feature individual heat sinks per bank of sixLEDs to control heat buildup rather than utilizing a single housing to dissipateheat. This allows for more thorough cooling of the LEDs for extended operatingperiods. This allows the LEDs to be driven at up to 90% capacity withoutoverheating or visible loss of light output. encountered.This light is universal voltage capable and can be operated with 347-480 VACwithout modifications. 347V is common in Western Canada, while 480V iscommon in the United States and Eastern Canada. This explosion proof LED lightfixture is IP67 rated, dust-proof, and protected against high pressure jets andtemporary submersion. The cast aluminum body and LED lamp give this lightexcellent durability and resistance to vibration and impacts. The housing isspecially designed to dissipate heat which increases the efficiency and lifespan ofthe LEDs and electronics.Mounting: Each unit is equipped with a back mount trunnion style mountingbracket that allows the light to be attached to flat surfaces and adjusted through160° of vertical movement. To adjust the unit after mounting, the user simplyloosens the set screws located on either side of the unit, moves it into the desiredposition, then re-tightens the screws. The base of the mounting trunnion isequipped with several machined slots which allow users to utilize existingmounting holes and slide the unit for precise mount positioning.
