January 7: The Epiphany of the Lord Is 60:16 / Eph 3:23a / Mt 2:112
As the Magi follow the star to Bethlehem and recognize the newborn King, God is revealed to them and they do him homage. Do we recog-nize Jesus among us? So often we expect that he will come with big fanfare or within some extraordinary way. Yet he comes to us in ordi-nary events. He speaks to us in the Scriptures, comes to us in the Sac-raments. We receive him in the Eucharist. How often do we take him for granted? Let us go to him, and do him homage, bringing him gifts, not of gold, frankincense and myrrh, but of ourselves. Let us welcome him into our lives with love.

From Deacon Brian
On Dec 31st we had some
significant dame done to our
shed on the south side of the
church, leading to the boiler
room. Our snow plow driver
inadvertently backed into the
shed, causing many of the
stones to collapse on both
sides. Also the piping to the
furnace was damaged and will
have to be replaced.
The majority of the work will not be completed until spring. The pip-
ing to the furnace that were damaged are outside and the furnace can
still function properly. All damages will be taken care of by Secore
Excavation .
In the meantime that entrance is completely off limits and can’t be
used as a fire escape until repairs have been completed.

Respect Life Second Collection: January 27/28 The Diocese of Ogdensburg Respect Life Second Collection will be held in our parishes in January, commemorating the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision of 1973 which legalized abortion in our nation. In 2018, this col-lection will be held the weekend of January 27/28. The purpose of the collection is to support & encourage efforts that affirm & promote the respect of human life from fertilization to natural death. Thanks to the generosity of North Country parishioners, last year’s collection provided 21 grants. Applications and guidelines are available on the Respect Life webpage. Thank you for helping to further prolife efforts in our diocese.
Environmental Stewardship This year National Migration Week is observed January 8-14. With over 65 million people forcibly displaced from their homes globally, the world is increasingly affected by migration. National Migration Week offers us as Catholic communities the opportunity to become more aware of our mission, rooted in Biblical tradi-tions, to welcome the newcomers. Pope Francis call us “...to look beyond our own needs and wants to those of others around us. How might I be a welcoming presence this year to the stranger (s) in my midst?
Presenting the Gifts at Mass If Mass is being offered for a deceased relative or friend—or if you have requested the Mass intention—you are most welcome to bring for-ward the Offertory Gifts. (You should also feel free to volunteer if there are no friends/relatives present, or if the Mass is for our parishioners.) Since the greeters and ushers do not always know the members of each family, it is appreci-ated if you let them know beforehand that you
are present and willing to carry the bread and wine to the altar.
CONTRIBUTION STATEMENTS 2017 If you would like a record of your contributions for 2017 from CCBC Parish for tax purposes, please fill out the form below and return it in the collection basket or you can pick up in Parish Office. We will mail them to you before the end of January. Name:________________________________ Address:_______________________________ Phone#:_______________________________
