Course Description
The UC Irvine Health Comprehensive Stroke and Neurocritical Care Symposium offers an update on the latest advances in stroke care and research. Improving stroke patient outcomes requires a multifaceted approach that includes pre-hospital, telestroke, acute, ICU management and rehabilitation care, as well as reintegration into the community. This conference is designed to improve the knowledge and performance of healthcare providers for patients with stroke and cerebrovascular disease.
Target Audience
The conference is targeted for neurologists, primary care physicians, cardiologists, vascular surgeons, neurosurgeons, psychologists, registered nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, social workers, case managers, EMS personnel and other healthcare providers directly involved with delivery of care to persons with stroke and cerebrovascular disease.
Learning Objectives
After completing the learning activity, the participant should be able to:
• Discuss the role of telestroke in acute stroke and recovery
• Discuss the role of multidisciplinary care in stroke
• Describe the difference risk factors of stroke based on gender
• Examine the updates on the latest advances in surgical and endovascular intervention and ICU management of the hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke patient
• Review complicated cases by multidisciplinary physician experts in advanced stroke care and rehabilitation
