For this project I will be travelling to multiple locations to collect several

images of both rural and urban landscapes.

Predicted final outcome

• My final outcome will be a photography portfolio that includes final, cropped, edited images of both rural landscapes and of urban landscapes. I will then proceed to edit the photos that I choose to put into the portfolio to then put it up on the blog along with all my work leading up to the final outcome and a collection of images that I took in the shoot that I decided didn’t make the cut to my portfolio.

Reasons for selection of theme (including

inspiration from the work of others)• The images I have chosen to take are split into two

different theme groups , the rural images are to be showing the beauty of the outdoors in a positive way, and the urban images to show the cities in a dark, polluted and old fashioned way.

• Some photographers who produce similar images include Marco Breier, who Produces impressive city shots in an old fashioned manor.

• Rob Cartwright also produces images of the city in a way that shows the side that isn't huge buildings and modern technology.

• Finally a photographer named Matthew William Ellis (Wellis) is an example of my inspiration for rural photography with his brilliant portrayal of natural beauty and life.

• All together the work of these different photographers is some of the best I have found on the internet, their work inspired me to look at simple things in a different way to how they are supposed to be seen and are seen by everybody on a daily basis.

• I also really like the theme of dark cities and bright countryside because it is almost too easy to view the city as a masterpiece but the real challenging and impressive looking photography comes from taking pictures in the heart of the city and making it look dark and sinister.

• The pictures of the beauty of the wilderness provide an interesting contrast to the city making the whole shoot look opposite to most peoples photography styles.

The photo imaging equipment and medium

that will be used and why • The equipment I will be

using to carry out the project includes a Nikon D3100 SLR camera with an 18 – 55 VR lens, to get the exact right frame for my photograph no matter where I am stood. I will also use a Tripod that I will use to make sure I get the best focus and angle on my shots possible.

Techniques that will be used and how they will help convey the visual

message • During my photo-shoot I plan to incorporate many different important photography techniques into each individual photograph. For example I will be careful to make sure I am bearing in mind the rule of thirds while taking my photographs this will ensure that each photograph will look professional and include the right amount of detail. I will also try to use different shutter speeds and depth of field to make my photographs look unique and individual. Using the zoom feature of the camera I will be able to think about getting the exact right amount in the frame even when the only vantage point is further back than I had wished

Date / time / location• In order to capture the

images I have planned for I will need to travel to Eccles Centre, Salford Quays and one of many nearby fields.

• I have chosen to visit eccles on November 1st 10:00 – 12:00. I will be Visiting Salford Quays November 19th 9.30 -12.30. Finally I will locate a rural location on the 25th 10:00 – 13:00

Risk and health and safety considerations

• When Traveling to locations be sure to take care traveling through busy city centres and if the destination is high up take necessary precautions to avoid falling.

• On the date of Salford Quays try to avoid going too close to the water or if necessary be sure to give a sensible limit to how close to position the tripod.

• When taking the rural images take care to stay away from private areas and make sure that the place the images are taken isn't too far away from a footpath and a sensible way back.
