HELLO! From Fr Marty
“Our greatest business in life
is not to see what lies dimly at a distance,
yet to do what clearly lies at hand.”
Thomas Carlyle
During this time, we cannot look too far ahead. Yes,
let’s celebrate the small blessings we are being allowed
to do, yet the future will remain that elusive ideal.
Stay in the now and be present to what is.
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY
To all the mother figures, we have in our lives,
those people who are there, who make us thrive.
Our female Aunties and nieces, to name just a few,
our Granma’s, our Nanna’s, who do so much too.
Female role models and teenage girls, who show so
much flair,
for all women this day, who will always, always, care.
Blessings to you all, on this your special day,
yet always to our mothers, as we go on our way.

PAGE 2 5TH SUNDAY OF EASTER
How to live the Gospel out this weekend.
I have used this quote from Pope Francis before. “Once man has lost the
fundamental orientation which unifies his existence, he breaks down into the
multiplicity of his desires; in refusing to await the time of promise, his life-story
disintegrates into a myriad of unconnected instants.”
This is a little like the many rooms in ‘my Father’s house’ Gospel today. What
are the many aspects of our lives? What is the good, yet more importantly
what are the rooms where we have shut the door for fear of letting go of
change?
In these times, it is important to start to think about change. What are the
rooms in our heart that we need to let the wind of change in? Society as we
know has changed, yet sometimes our brains need a bit of time to adjust.
There was that beautiful comment from Pope John XXIII, who said of Vatican
II, ‘the time has come to open the windows of the church to let the fresh air in.’
What rooms do we need to open to get a better perspective of our lives?
Bridget Haase in her book “Well Said, Children’s words of wisdom’, has the
following quotes to think about in terms of looking at change.
Kirby aged 7; “I wish I could live like I was a hundred, instead of just seven.
Then I could relax and get ‘Meals on Wheels.’
Bernie aged 9; “Sometimes when I am walking by myself I get this funny
question inside of me. I mean - what makes me, me? My mirror doesn’t
answer.”
Serena aged 11; “Lots of times I wonder if the road ahead will have lots of
bumps in it. But I guess ruts could be worse.”
BLESSINGS!!!!!
I love to bless!

MISSA PRO POPULO
(The mass for the people.) As Parish Priest, one mass on the
weekend is to be said solely for the
people of the parish. This mass is
the 9am. Live streamed!
What are you grateful about
today/this week?
Frank and Rob have been cleaning our
church grounds over Easter with the
help of Glenn, our grounds keeper
with the school. They have put in
many hours to get the church grounds
looking in good ‘knick’. Thank you!
TASK:
When we are allowed back to the
Church precinct, just to be aware the
church will need a good clean!
Windows, carpets, working spaces,
albs, vestments, vessels. It will be a
big job, yet we can pitch in together.
Stay tuned!
FUN FACT FOR SUNDAY
10th May, 2020
1994: Nelson Mandela gave his
inaugural speech as President of the
new Republic of South Africa. Mandela
quotes from Marianne Williamson’s
book ‘A return to love’, and gives a
speech inspiring hope in a nation and
in each person. “Our deepest fear is
not that we are inadequate. Our
deepest fear is that we are powerful
beyond measure. It is our light, not our
darkness that most frightens us. We
ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant,
gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually,
who are you not to be? You are a child
of God. Your playing small does not
serve the world. There is nothing
enlightened about shrinking so that
other people won’t feel insecure around
you. We are all meant to shine, as
children do. We were born to make
manifest the glory of God that is within
us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in
everyone. And as we let our own light
shine, we unconsciously give other
people permission to do the same. As
we are liberated from our own fear, our
presence automatically liberates
others.”
