ADORATION ADORACIÓN
Thursday / Jueves 9AM to 6PM
As we celebrate the 5th Sunday of Lent we are drawing ever closer to the Easter morning of resurrection. But we are still on the journey of Lenten prayer and love. It is especially a time of sacramental preparation and grace flowing through the parish community. The past two weekends we have had “First Com-munion” retreats for our children in the parish school and faith
formation programs as they make ready their hearts to receive in the Eucha-rist the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. The parents of these young parishioners, assisted by our staff and dedicated volunteers, have labored in the vineyard of the Lord in preparing for this great day. It is a great blessing.
Tomorrow, March 19, we will celebrate the Solemnity of Joseph, The Hus-band of Mary, who is the patron saint of our Diocese. It is a time of great thanksgiving and joy made even greater as we celebrate our Parish Recon-ciliation Service. All are invited to attend. The Catholic Church asks that each member of the Church participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation at least one time per year. It is important for us to recognize our need for forgiveness and allow God’s grace of sacramental mercy to be given and received. We have twelve priests scheduled to come Monday (tomorrow) evening. The ser-vice begins at 700 p.m. and will continue until all have been confessed. (Continued on page 2...)

CRS Rice Bowl Encounter Alefa
Alefa is a mother, grandmother and farmer. She provides for her three children, three grandchildren and husband by selling her crops. If they fail during one of Malawi’s rainy seasons—or in a drought—her family goes hungry. One particularly difficult year, Alefa was forced to sell some of her land to make ends meet.
She knew she had to start planting crops that could withstand Malawi’s changing climate. So, she attended a CRS-sponsored seed fair, where farmers learn the best crops to plant for the upcoming year, and receive vouchers so they can choose the seeds and supplies they need. Besides rice, Alefa bought corn, cabbage and tomato seeds. This way, she can continue farming rice but also feel con-fident that, even if her rice fails, she will have other crops to sell.
“This harvest will provide food, shelter and education for my family,” she says. In a few short months, Alefa will be growing corn and harvesting hope.

Day of Retreat for Young Women
Want to learn more about living your Catholic faith as a young, single woman in today’s culture? Janua Caeli is for you! The theme for the April 21st Janua Caeli Retreat Day is Fullness of Grace: How to Receive an Overabundance of God’s Gifts; our retreat master is Rev. Quan Tran, priest for the Diocese of Orange in California and founder of Fullness of Grace, a ministry aimed at helping Catholics and other Christians grow in their spiritual life by better understanding supernatural grace, and how to gain an abundance of God's gifts by imitating the qualities of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This one-day retreat will be from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM and will include talks, confessions and opportunities for one-on-one spiritual guidance, Eucharistic Adoration, Mass and the Divine Office prayed with the Dominican nuns, and more! For more information and to register, visit our website at www.opnunsmenlo.org or contact Sister Joseph Marie, O.P. at [email protected].
