Psalm 138:1-8

Psalm 138:1-3, 6, 8May all kings fall down before Him,all nations serve Him!

1

I thank you, LORD, with all my heart; before the gods to you I sing.2 I bow low toward your holy temple; I praise your name for your fidelity and love. For you have exalted over all your name and your promise.3 When I cried out, you answered; you strengthened my spirit. 6 The LORD is on high, but cares for the lowly and knows the proud from afar.8 The LORD is with me to the end. LORD, your love endures forever. Never forsake the work of your hands!

Psalm 138 states reasons we should worship. For the psalmist, worship begins with Gods attributes. We need to worship God for who He is, for His fidelity and His love (v. 2). But how are His attributes to be known?By His words (v. 2), by the prayers He answers (v. 3)by His affection for the lowly (v. 6). Summing up, God is to be worshiped because through His Word, He reveals Himself and through His actions He gives graces to His believers. These two facts should bring us to our knees in submission and to our feet in praise

Edwin van der Sar, goalkeeper for the English Manchester United soccer team, had the best pair of hands in the league. He prevented anyone from scoring for 1,302 minutes, a world record in one season! That means for almost 15 games of 90 minutes each, no one was able to score while he was guarding the goal. But one goal by an opposing team in March 2009 ended his record.Today David tells us of the best hands in the universe that have protected him against all his enemies.God will do the same for us.It doesnt mean that He will prevent us from stumbling, we surely will, but it does mean that He will help us up went we fall.
