WELCOME TO THE LGC INVESTMENT SUMMIT 20182018 is the LGC Investment Summit’s 30th anniversary and, although over that period we have seen many changes one constant is the Summit itself. It is still the leading annual investment event for local government pension funds and it is this because it sets the benchmark for effective learning and knowledge gathering within the LGPS.
The Summit has always been primarily about investment, and this is where we will continue to focus most of our attention but of course we will also provide the essential update on the progress that pension funds are making in transitioning to combined investment pools.
The investment landscape continues to evolve with individual funds re-setting asset allocations in light of the 2016 valuation and now beginning to look forward to the 2019 valuation, taking stock of the impact of fundamental political and economic change; and continuing to maintain a long term perspective despite the immediate impact of Austerity.
The new Investment Pools are now forming and focussing on new ways of working to achieve the best possible outcomes, on the new opportunities to collaborate, and on how to invest ‘smarter’. This will deliver a more cost efficient implementation, but more importantly it has to open up better investment solutions to meet individual funds’ needs.
This year’s Summit will address all these issues, drawing upon expert speakers and practitioners and, as ever, addressing issues of immediate concern and interest, but also offering a longer term perspective, so vital to the LGPS.
Local government members and officers have an excellent track record in their stewardship of the LGPS but the need to improve the level of skills and knowledge of those responsible for investment and to cope with a rapidly changing investment environment and governance framework is as vital now as it was in 1988.
Join us at Celtic Manor to learn more about future of the LGPS and how you can best tackle the investment changes we all face.
