Description of Change: This details the procedure for changing the door seal on any 402s & eikon e4 oven. This should be performed when a door seal has become damaged, failed, deteriorated or when upgrading from narrow to wide section seal, (402s Only).

This upgrade will require the oven to be relatively cool to remove the old seal & once the new seal has been fitted a cure time of 2 hours with the oven hot RUOHft overnight with oven door in the closed position and switched off before operation of the oven can begin.

Process for carrying out modification / Change: Cool down the oven then isolate from the mains supply by disconnecting the plug or locking in the off position the isolation switch if the oven is hard wired.

• Remove the lid and side panels to access the oven components.• Undo the door skin retaining screws (x 10) & carefully remove from the oven

door main body along with the insulation blanket.

Process for carrying out modification / Change: • Using a sharp craft knife cut into the existing seal and run the blade along the

length keeping pressure down onto the door surface.

• Once you have gone around all 4 sides you should be able to remove the oldseal to expose the Silastic below.

• Using a flat bladed screwdriver push through the Silastic between the slot fromthe side where the insulation was previously situated, when you have clearedall slots of Silastic you are then ready to fit the new door seal.

• Fit the new door seal by clipping in the 4 corners then close the door to clampthe seal against the cavity & the door body.

• With the door closed use Silastic CAF30 (black) to fill in the gaps behind theseal, ensure you add enough Silastic to fill the length of each slot and create amushroom effect.

• Open the door and check the seal has not moved, if so square the seal to thedoor body. NOTE: if any Silastic has squeezed beyond the seal on the cavityside remove with a damp cloth.

Process for carrying out modification / Change: • With the door closed re-fit the side panels and lid and then reconnect to the

mains supply.

• Heat the oven to 275°C and run for 2 Hours - Ensure the oven is NOTused for cooking or any other program is used during this time.

• After 2 hours the sealant should have cured, disconnect the oven from the mainsupply once again and allow to cool.

• Remove the lid & side panels, re-fit the door insulation wrap.

• Re-fit the door skin to the door frame, apply a single drop of thread lock 243 tothe door frame cage nuts the secure the door skin in place with 10 x M3 x 12CSK screws. The recommended torque setting for this application is 0.22Nm.

• With the oven door now fully re-assembled check the door seal is still beingclamped all the way around the cavity face and no gaps are visible.

• Check the door interlocks have not been affected by following the doorinterlocks set up procedure detailed on the following pages.

• Once the microswitch set up has been completed, fit the side panels and lidand connect to the mains supply.

• Carry out the oven re-commissioning.• Place a water load of around 275ml inside the oven cavity and run a program of

microwave without convection heat to perform microwave emission test.• Using a ‘Holaday’ or equivalent microwave emissions probe check the areas

detailed on page 8.• Ensure the microwave emissions seen are below permissible limit of 5mW/cm²• Remove the water load from the cavity. The oven is now ready for use.

Process for carrying out modification / Change: 602'(/PROCEDURE FOR DOOR INTERLOCK ADJUSTMENT AND TEST 1

• The door on the 402s oven is monitored by 4 microswitches. 3 are used in theconventional ‘Primary, secondary and Monitor’ switch arrangement shownbelow and the 4th sends a signal to the logic PCB

• Monitor SwitchThe monitor switch will produce a short circuit across the mains supply when the door is opened if the primary switch interlock switch is faulty, thus blowing the microwave fuse and rendering the oven inoperative.

• Primary Interlock & Secondary InterlockThe primary switch will cut off the microwave emissions from the oven when the door is opened by breaking the electrical supply circuit to the transformers. The secondary interlock switch will cut off the microwave emissions if the primary switch has failed.

• Note:If operation of the monitor switch has caused the microwave fuse to blow, the primary and monitor microswitches must be changed as they may have been damaged by the high short-circuit currents involved.

• It is vital that the microswitches are adjusted to the correct position. There are

two sets situated either side of the door.• The interlocks ensure that the oven will not operate microwave with the door

open.

WARNING - Before adjusting the microswitch assemblies ensure that the oven has been isolated from the electrical supply. Please note the terminals on the microswitches remain live when the oven is switched off, so complete isolation is essential.

• With a 2mm spacer located as shown both switches on both sides should beactivated/closed position.

• With a 4mm spacer located as shown SW2 & SW3 should be open.

• By loosening the 4 screws on each mounting bracket the microswitchassembly can be raised or lowered and thereby the switches can be made tooperate at different door positions.

• Isolate the oven from the electrical supply.• Place a 2mm spacer between the cavity face and the door seal.• Working on the right hand side adjust the bracket so the SW2 ‘just’ operates.• Working on the left hand side adjust the bracket so that SW3 ‘just’ operates.• Remove the 2mm spacer & then place a 4mm spacer in the same position.• Check that SW2 & SW3 are open circuit and not operated.• Repeat the steps above to ensure the set up is correct.
