WELCOME ADDRESS
Dear friends,
Let me sincerely welcome you to the 6th IVW held here in beautiful Prague.
When we organised the first IVW back in 2008, many people considered such a project based on films to be unsustainable. I believed however in a special value of surgical film for teaching, demonstration of new technologies, and the tool for harmonisation of surgical techniques, terminology and classification of procedures.
I am confident, that surgical films have made a significant contribution to the development of unification of radical surgery in gynecologic oncology internationally. I am convinced that also this conference and the many contributions, which were viewed by hundreds of our colleagues in the ESGO library, have made an impact.
In the three upcoming days you will have the opportunity to see almost 70 surgical films, you will hear 5 State of the art lectures and 4 debates. Other 49 will be available at the E-poster stations in the exhibition, please pay attention to them as well.
All presentations, which authors gave their permission, will be made available for the congress participants at a website after IVW has finished.
Thank you so much to all of those, who have actively contributed to the program and I hope you all will benefit from it in your clinical practice.
And for those of you who have not been in Prague yet, you should explore the beauties of the city because life of a surgeon should not only be about our job, but also some fun. Of course preferably after the program.
Sincerely,
David Cibula IVW 2018 chairman
