1 INTRODUCTION

Welcome on board the RODRIQUEZ 600 SPORT! When conceiving and designing this vessel, our aim was to create a synthesis between high performance and sailing comfort, respectful of international regulations on safety. The result was a product that is complex, also considering its size, and rich in advanced technology devices and equipment, that are surely reliable, but which require your care as to use and maintenance. Knowledge of your vessel and its maintenance are essential for safety on water and for obtaining maximum performance, while simultaneously protecting your investment. 1.1 Owner's manual: scope and obligations

The purpose of this manual is to provide you with the basic information regarding the vessel, the systems installed, the equipment, the maintenance and the practical use of the boat. Very carefully read this manual and all the documentation supplied separately (drawings and diagrams, user's manuals for all installed devices) which is to be considered an integral part of the manual.

ATTENTION: BEFORE PLACING YOURSELF AT THE "COMMAND" OF THE VESSEL, READ THE OWNER'S MANUAL IN ITS ENTIRETY. ALWAYS CAREFULLY FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS CONTAINED IN THIS MANUAL.

1.3 Safety equipment

It is the owner's responsibility to make sure that the vessel is equipped with the safety equipment required by the laws in force and to check their efficiency. It is a good rule that all the passengers know where the following are located and how they work:

- Life jackets - Extinguishers - Self-inflating life raft - Rapid fuel cut-off

- Means for reboarding (stern ladder)

WARNING: THE OWNER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL SAFETY EQUIPMENT AND IT IS UP TO HIM TO COMPLETE IT WITH THE EQUIPMENT REQUIRED IN THE COUNTRY IN WHICH THE VESSEL IS REGISTERED. IT IS A GOOD RULE TO FREQUENTLY CHECK THAT THE SAFETY EQUIPMENT IS IN GOOD CONDITION AND MAKE SURE IT HAS NOT EXPIRED.

3.1 Steering gear bridge

From the bridge control position you can control all the main functions of the onboard equipment and systems. The piloting console comprises a series of instruments, panels and controls: The central part features:

ATTENTION: BEFORE USING ANY EQUIPMENT, PERFORM ALL THE CHECKS AS REQUIRED IN THE INSTRUCTIONS SUPPLIED BY EACH MANUFACTURER.

1. Alarms panel (fig. 3-1) contains the vessel synoptic and controls the fire alarm and the bilge pump alarm. It also features a pushbutton for controlling the panel light. Fire alarm: the signal is both optical and acoustic; also includes a "silence" pushbutton. The alarm is set off when the temperature in the engine compartment and dinette reach a high value. Bilge pump alarm: the signal is both optical and acoustic: also includes a "silence" pushbutton. The alarm is set off when the bilge water exceeds the threshold value.

2. Stern thruster control (optional) The stern thruster is electrical. To operate it, the "BOW THRUST" thermomagnet must be connected. Engine battery section of the electrical panel (EP).

3. Bow thruster control

The bow thruster is electrical. To operate it, the "BOW THRUST" thermomagnet must be connected. Engine battery section of the EP. 4. Radar - Plotter - GPS

The radar is powered and protected by a thermomagnet of the electrical panel (EP), (The EP is described in the chapter “ELECTRICAL SYSTEM”), section 24 V DC. Remember that it is better not to use the radar if you are piloting from the flydeck or there are guests on the flydeck, to avoid exposure to high-frequency radiant waves typical of this type of equipment. For instructions on how to use this equipment, refer to the manufacturer's user's manual. The plotter is powered at 24 V DC by the "NAVIG.INSTRUM." thermomagnet of the EP.

ATTENTION: REMEMBER THAT ELECTRONIC MAPPING DOES NOT REPLACE TRADITIONAL AND OFFICIAL MAPPING, ESPECIALLY AS REGARDS THE PRESENCE OF NAVIGATION OBSTACLES OR DANGERS.

5. Engine control panel (fig. 3-2) contains:

The engine control instruments. All the propulsion parameter sensors have been checked and calibrated at the shipyard before delivery. However it is always best to have them checked each time engine maintenance is performed and in any case at least once a year. The manuals provided by the engine and reversing gear manufacturers will indicate the normal variability range of these parameters. Remember that normal values during operation feel the effects of external factors such as temperature, dirty filters, lubrication viscosity, etc., and that small value differences between the two engines are inevitable and do not indicate malfunctions. If, on the contrary, you notice that a parameter changes more than usual, apparently for no reason (e.g.: constant speed), even if it stays within the range it is best to check the equipment.

WARNING: THE ENGINE COOLING FRESH WATER CONTAINED IN THE BOX AND THE LUBRICATION OIL CAN REACH VERY HIGH TEMPERATURES AND CAUSE BURNS. BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN PERFORMING CHECKS.

Tank level indicator instruments. These instruments are powered by the ON-OFF pushbutton located on the dashboard control panel. The level sensors are located: − for the diesel fuel, on the right tank in the engine compartment; − for the water, on the tank ceiling.

ATTENTION: IN PARTICULAR, WE RECOMMEND YOU COMPARE THE INDICATIONS OF THE DIESEL FUEL INSTRUMENT WITH THE TUBE LEVEL INDICATIONS LOCATED ON THE CENTRAL TANKS, WITH THE VALVES OPEN OF COURSE, TO CHECK THE RELIABILITY OF THE INSTRUMENT ON THE DASHBOARD.

6. Flap controls Use of the flaps lets you determine the best navigation trim (best comfort, lower consumption, highest speed) based on the sea conditions and the distribution of the load on board. The position of the flaps is indicated by the indicators. Experience will help you find the best way to use these control surfaces. In any case, here are some general suggestions: − keep them low (low bow) if you are sailing seaway against the waves, to avoid slamming, − keep them up (high bow) if you are sailing seaway aft, to improve directional stability and steering, − use sparingly to obtain maximum speed for each number of revolutions if you are sailing on calm waters (in planing condition),

− offset them if you are sailing with crosswinds and crosswaves or diagonally unbalanced to balance the boat (in planing condition). 7. Echo sounder and log

8. Autopilot The autopilot is powered and protected by a thermomagnet of the electrical panel (EP). The flux-gate compass is located under the after cabin floor, while at the extreme stern, in the engine compartment, there is the hydraulic mechanism that drives the helm; connected to one of the rudders is a position sensor that serves as the autopilot feedback. For more information, refer to the chapter "HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS".

WARNING: EVEN IF THE HELM IS CONTROLLED BY THE AUTOPILOT, ALWAYS KEEP A CLOSE WATCH ON NAVIGATION.

WARNING: KEEP METAL OBJECTS OR EQUIPMENT THAT MAY AFFECT IT OUT OF THE VICINITY OF THE FLUX-GATE COMPASS.

ATTENTION: REMEMBER THAT ELECTRONIC MAPPING DOES NOT REPLACE TRADITIONAL AND OFFICIAL MAPPING, ESPECIALLY AS REGARDS THE PRESENCE OF NAVIGATION OBSTACLES OR DANGERS. 9. Magnetic compass

Remember to have the compass compensated and periodically inspected. As is known, compasses are affected by magnetic fields generated by metal masses and electrical circuits in their vicinity and a vessel dashboard inevitably produces this type of interference. However, a good technician will be able to correctly compensate these problems. Do not cause further disturbance by placing objects that may affect the compass in its vicinity.

10. Helm control The helm is hydraulic; the system drives two twin helms by means of a hydraulic piston. The hydraulic gearcase is powered at 24 V DC by the "PILOT PUMP" thermomagnet of the electrical panel (EP).

1. Anchor winch control (see the chapter “MANOEUVRES, PRECAUTIONS FOR EXHAUST GASES, ECOLOGY”), 2. Automatic operation controls for the bilge pumps. For each pump the related thermomagnet must already be connected on the EP. 3. Windscreen wiper and windshield washer controls; the windshield washer is fed by the onboard fresh water circuit, by means of a solenoid

valve located under the bridge dashboard. Therefore, in order to use it, the fresh water system surge tank must be in operation. 4. Steering gear control, powered by a thermomagnet of the EP. 5. Alarms test control, 6. Horn control, powered by a thermomagnet of the EP. 7. Navigation lights control, which turns on the navigation lights, powered and protected by a thermomagnet of the EP. 8. ATTENTION: THE ENGINES MUST BE STARTED UP ONE AT A TIME, WITH THE REVERSING GEARS SECURELY IN IDLE AND THE VESSEL IN IDLE SPEED OR ONLY SLIGHTLY HIGHER.

ATTENTION: THE STARTER MOTOR SHOULD NOT BE POWERED FOR MORE THAN 15 CONSECUTIVE SECONDS. WAIT TWO MINUTES BEFORE TRYING AGAIN, TO ALLOW IT TO COOL DOWN.

4.0 PROPULSION UNITS

4.1 Engines

The RODRIQUEZ 600 SPORT is driven by two 800 hp engines, with electronic control of some functions. Installation configuration is contained in "SHAFT LINE", with the reversing gears separate from the engines and mounted aft of them with interposition of flexible elements. A flexible joint has been installed between the engine and the reversing gear to eliminate torsional vibrations. The engine is cooled by a sealed circuit containing fresh water mixed with an anti-corrosion liquid and antifreeze.

WARNING: BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN REMOVING THE CAP OF THE BOX CONTAINING THE COOLING FRESH WATER: THE WATER CAN REACH VERY HIGH TEMPERATURES AND CAN CAUSE SERIOUS BURNS.

The fresh water is in turn cooled by a circuit of sea water, picked up by two intakes with service valves and a basket filter.

WARNING: TO PREVENT FLOODING ON BOARD IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT YOU CHECK THE SEA WATER INTAKES AND THE SEA WATER CIRCUITS.

ATTENTION: THE SEA WATER FILTERS CAN BE OPENED ONLY AFTER HAVING CLOSED THE SEA WATER INTAKE VALVES.

ATTENTION: WHEN CLOSING THE SEA WATER FILTERS FOLLOWING CLEANING, MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT DAMAGE THE SEAL.

The two sea water intakes are equipped with emergency intake from the compartment bilge, which is to be used in case of serious flooding (see the chapter “BILGE EMPTYING”). After having cooled the engine and the reversing gears, the sea water is eliminated with the exhaust gases, while only a small amount of water is sent to the tail shaft liner for cooling and lubricating the propeller shaft. The outlets are submerged.

DANGER: DURING SAILING, OBSERVE THE DIRECTION OF THE WIND TO AVOID EXHAUST FUMES RETURNING ON BOARD SO AS TO PREVENT CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING.

The engines take in air for combustion directly in the engine compartment, guaranteeing change of air in the compartment itself. In the presence of smoke, due to malfunction or fire onset on board, the smoke detectors located in the engine compartment and dinette will set off an acoustic alarm and turn on the pilot light on the control panel by the control position. In case of emergency, the diesel fuel valve closing tie rods are located in the cockpit in the peak to the left. The diesel fuel circuit is described in the chapter ”DIESEL FUEL SYSTEM” . In the peak cockpit there is a disconnecting switch that disconnects, if open, the starter batteries, thus preventing start-up. The starter batteries are in the engine compartment on the stern side, near the water tank, together with other service batteries. We recommend you carefully read the engine instruction manual and the manuals illustrating electronic systems operation. Engine tubing, couplings, clips and connections, which could loosen due to vibrations, must be checked frequently to prevent malfunctions. The engine compartment must always be kept clean, so as to notice even the slightest oil or fuel leak, which must be immediately eliminated.

Cooling is guaranteed by the sea water taken in by the engine circuit. We recommend you carefully read the related instruction manual. The reliability of the reversing gears is linked to correct lubrication. During sailing, we recommend you often check the reversing gear oil pressure and temperature values indicated on the engine control panel instruments. At least once a year you must check the connection bolt torque of the cardanic shaft and the propeller shaft.

ATTENTION: TO AVOID DAMAGING THE ENGINES AND REVERSING GEARS, REVERSE MANOEUVRES MUST BE PERFORMED SLOWLY AND WITH THE ENGINES IN IDLE.

4.3 Shaft lines - propellers

Shaft alignment has been accurately checked in the shipyard. However, this operation must be repeated periodically (during every engine overhaul and in any case at least every two years): an increase in vibrations is a clear sign of misalignment. The shafts are flanged at the reversing gear exit. The watertightness of the propeller shafts is guaranteed by tail shaft liners type PSS (3) (ref. Fig. 4-1), which do not require maintenance.

The external stand should be checked when the boat is dry on the outside, in order to detect the presence of play due to wear of the neoprene bushing that is on the shaft. The propellers are manufactured by RADICE, and feature four blades. Any damage to propellers is caused by erosion due to cavitation, galvanic corrosion or impact with underwater objects. Frequently check the remaining mass of the protective anodes and replace them when they are reduced by 50%.

ATTENTION: DO NOT PAINT THE PROTECTIVE ANODES AS THIS WILL CAUSE THEM TO LOSE THEIR PROTECTIVE PROPERTIES. THEY MUST BE REPLACED WHEN THEIR MASS IS HALF THE ORIGINAL SIZE.

Bow Thruster The bow thruster (1) (ref. Fig. 4-2) is electrical an is installed at the bow, at the foot of the bed of the main cabin. Often check the oil level in the small sump (2) (ref. Fig. 4-2) located near the bow thruster: if the oil level goes below the mark, this means that there is a leak in the seals that prevent the entry of sea water in the transmission.

Stern Thruster (optional) The stern thruster (3) (ref. Fig. 4-3) is electrical and is installed aft in the opening of the footboard, accessible from the cockpit. 5. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

For any troubleshooting by specialised electricians, the necessary electrical diagrams have been supplied separately from this manual.

DANGER: IN ORDER TO AVOID DANGER OF ELECTROCUTION OR SHORT CIRCUITS, CUT OFF ALL CIRCUITS AND DISCONNECT THE DOCK PLUG BEFORE PERFORMING ANY TYPE OF OPERATION ON THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM.

The electrical panel (EP) is located in the extreme aft compartment, accessible from the sailor's cabin, while the control panel equipped with the 220 V AC and 24 V DC general thermomagnets is installed in the sailor's cabin, at the foot of the bed. The EP controls the boat's electrical system, and is divided into two sections, one for the 220 V 50 Hz alternate current (AC), the other for the 24 V direct current (DC). The 220 V AC system can be powered by: - the dock plug equipped with a connecting plug, on the stern board located on the starboard side; - by an on-board generator.

DANGER: BEFORE USE, MAKE SURE THE ELECTRICAL INSULATION IS INTACT AND CHECK THE CONDITION OF THE DOCK PLUG CABLE, MAKING SURE THAT THE CONNECTION IS PERFECTLY DRY.

DANGER: ALWAYS DISCONNECT THE CABLE FROM THE DOCK FIRST AND THEN FROM THE OUTLET ON THE BOAT, SO AS TO AVOID THE CABLE ACCIDENTALLY FALLING IN THE WATER.

The 24 V DC system is powered by the batteries on board.

5.1 System description

The ground tap can be connected to a 220 V AC - 50 Hz energy source on the dock. The plug is on the stern board located on the starboard side, accessible from the aft footboard. The boat is equipped with an electrical generator located in the middle of the extreme aft compartment, accessible from the sailor's cabin. The generator can be remotely started, stopped, placed in line and disconnected, by means of the controls located on the panel in the dinette, but can also be started, stopped, placed in line and disconnected locally. The batteries required for starting it are located near the generator. The EP features the two main safety switches with automatic cut-out (MAIN LINE - GENERATOR) which connect the 220 V energy sources to the onboard electrical system. The service batteries are in the engine compartment, near the access ladder, together with the engine starter-up batteries. The following batteries have been installed: - main engine start-up batteries: 4 x 108 Ah 12 V - service batteries: 8 x 108 Ah 12 V - generator start-up battery: 1 x 108 Ah 12 V The negative of the DC electrical system is earthed, as is the earth of the 220 V AC system and the protective anode earthing system. The battery disconnectors are located on deck at the centre of the boat on the left of the bulwarks opening, whereas the box containing the fuses protecting the battery circuits is at the front of the engine compartment with the battery charger to its right; the gangway control unit is installed in the farthest aft compartment, accessible from the sailor's cabin.

WARNING: THE ENGINE BATTERY DISCONNECTOR MUST BE DISABLED WHEN YOU LEAVE THE BOAT. THIS IS ESSENTIAL FOR PREVENTING FIRES ON BOARD.

WARNING: CAREFULLY PERIODICALLY CHECK THE CONDITION OF THE CONNECTIONS, TERMINAL STRIPS AND BATTERY CABLES, AS THEIR DETERIORATION (LOOSENING OR OXIDATION) CAUSES BAD BATTERY PERFORMANCE AND CAN GENERATE DANGEROUS OVERHEATING.

Power for the propulsion engine starter motors comes from the starter battery disconnecting switch seen earlier (ENGINES), with the possibility of putting it in parallel with the service batteries by means of a control located on the battery disconnector panel. The engine and service batteries are recharged, during sailing, by the alternators dragged by the propulsion engines, or by a battery charger located in the engine compartment at the bow on the starboard side, if the 220 V AC is available (dock plug connected or generator running). The left-hand engine alternator recharges the start-up batteries, the one on the right recharges the service batteries (this is why you should always start the left engine first, so that the following start-up is made easier). The alternators dragged by the engines are protected by two 100 A fuses. The generator start-up battery is recharged by the generator itself during operation.

DANGER: FLAMMABLE GASES ARE LET OUT DURING BATTERY RECHARGE.

DANGER: THE BATTERY ELECTROLYTE IS A HIGHLY CORROSIVE ACID.

5.2 Electrical panel (EP)

The electrical panel (EP) is located in the extreme aft compartment, accessible from the sailor's cabin, while the control panel equipped with the 220 V AC and 24 V DC thermomagnets is installed in the sailor's cabin, at the foot of the bed. The EP is divided into two separate sections: the alternate current (AC) section is on top; the direct current (DC) section is on the bottom and is powered by the on-board batteries. The AC section contains the automatic cut-out and the thermomagnets of the equipment using the 220 V AC as well as the controls for putting the 220 V AC energy sources in line. The DC section contains the thermomagnets that power the derived equipment using the 24 V DC. The cabins and the WCs use the 220 V AC and 24 V DC thermomagnets of the local equipment.

WARNING: NEVER REPLACE, FOR ANY REASON, A PROTECTION FUSE WITH ONE HAVING GREATER CAPACITY AS THIS COULD CAUSE ONSET OF FIRE. IF A FUSE BLOWS REPEATEDLY IT MEANS THAT THERE IS A MALFUNCTION THAT MUST BE ELIMINATED.

5.3 Electrical control panel

The electrical control panel is located in the upper front area of the dinette. From this panel you can control all the main functions of the vessel’s electrical system.

ATTENTION: THE INDICATION OF THE DIRECT CURRENT VOLTMETER IS RELIABLE ONLY IF THE BATTERY CHARGER IS DISCONNECTED AND THE ENGINES ARE STOPPED, OTHERWISE IT IS AFFECTED BY THE RECHARGE CIRCUITS AND BY THE ALTERNATORS DRAGGED BY THE ENGINES.

The panel is divided into three sections: a. The left-hand section: contains the craft synoptic and controls the optical and acoustic fire alarm; it also includes the "silence" pushbutton. The

alarm is set off when the temperature in the engine compartment and dinette reach a high value; b. Central section: contains the analog instruments (voltmeter, ammeter) which indicate the service battery charge level, the current absorbed by the

equipment using the 24 V DC and the charge unit current (generator/dock plug) if powered. During sailing, the instruments also indicate the derived charge of the main engine alternators. In addition, there is a start-up battery test pushbutton as well as the switches that enable the main equipment using the 24 V DC;

c. Right-hand section: contains the analog check instruments for the equipment using the 220 V AC, the switches for starting-up and enabling the generator and the dock plug; it also includes the switches for controlling the main equipment using the 220 V AC.

WARNING: IF A THERMOMAGNET PROTECTION TRIPS, IT IS NECESSARY TO IDENTIFY AND ELIMINATE THE CAUSES OF MALFUNCTION, BEFORE REARMING IT.

ATTENTION: ENABLE ONLY THE NECESSARY EQUIPMENT. ALWAYS DISABLE THE UNNECESSARY THERMOMAGNETS.

ATTENTION: NEVER CONNECT EQUIPMENT WITH AN OVERALL POWER GREATER THAN 2000 W TO THE 220 V DC OUTLETS ON BOARD

5.4 Generator

On board there is a generator located in the middle of the extreme aft compartment, accessible from the sailor's cabin, which takes in air from the compartment and discharges combusted gases into a special pipe. During operation, the generator recharges its start-up battery (108 Ah). The battery disconnector is mounted on a panel near the generator. The sea water intake for cooling features an on-off valve and a filter that can be opened for cleaning purposes. The infeed of the diesel fuel necessary for its operation is guaranteed by the left tank: the rear one is for delivery, while the return goes to the front tank. The system diagrams can be found in the chapter “DIESEL FUEL SYSTEM” . We recommend you read the generator instruction manual supplied separately. For correct use of the generator, we recommend you: - check the oil and fresh water levels before start-up; - check that the sea water is circulating properly after start-up; - do not use high electrical loads immediately after start-up; - periodically check that no alarms are present during operation; - before turning it off, let it turn without load for a few minutes. In any case, the generator is equipped with safety devices that will stop it in case of lubrication or cooling system failure.

WARNING: THE ENGINE COOLING FRESH WATER IN THE BOX CAN REACH VERY HIGH TEMPERATURES AND CAUSE BURNS. OPEN THE CAP VERY CAREFULLY.

ATTENTION: EXHAUSTED OIL IS HIGHLY POLLUTING: AVOID SPILLAGE IN THE BILGE.

DANGER: THE COMBUSTION PROCESS OF ANY ENGINE GENERATES CARBON MONOXIDE, A TOXIC, COLOURLESS AND ODOURLESS GAS. WHEN RIDING AT ANCHOR, TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE DIRECTION OF THE WIND TO AVOID EXHAUST FUMES RETURNING ON BOARD. REGULARLY CHECK THE EXHAUST PIPES

6. DIESEL FUEL SYSTEM

The diesel fuel system is essentially made up of four special reinforced fibreglass tanks located in the engine compartment, the main engine infeed conduits and the generator (see diagram). The diesel fuel filling pipeline is on the deck sideways. From the filling pipeline the diesel fuel arrives directly into the tanks that are connected to each other by means of tubes with manual control cut-off valves. Overall capacity is 2200 l, of which you can take in for sure only 80% (the movements of the boat due to the motion of the waves can cause a considerable reduction of the tank's liquid intake capacity).

ATTENTION: BEFORE CASTING OFF THE MOORINGS MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE ENOUGH FUEL TO REACH YOUR DESTINATION WITH AN ADEQUATE RESERVE, IN CASE FOR WEATHER REASONS OR EMERGENCY YOU ARE FORCED TO CHANGE COURSE.

The deliveries from the tank to the engines feature rapid storm chokes, which can be used in case of malfunction or emergency by means of two engine control levers located on deck in the centre of the boat to the left of the bulwarks opening.

ATTENTION: DURING REFUELLING PAY ATTENTION TO THE PUMP CAPACITY AS IT MAY BE TOO MUCH FOR THE AIR HOLES AND THEREFORE DAMAGE THE TUBES OR THE TANKS.

7. FRESH WATER SYSTEM

The fresh water filling pipeline is located in the cockpit on the starboard side. From this filling pipeline the water pours into the onboard tank made of special reinforced fibreglass, with an overall capacity of 700 l, which is located in the aft engine compartment. (see enclosed diagram).

ATTENTION: WHEN RESUPPLYING WATER, IT IS BEST TO CHECK THAT THE INFEED CAPACITY IS NOT TOO MUCH FOR THE AIR HOLE, WHICH WOULD CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TANK OR TUBES.

From the tank the water reaches a surge tank pump which guarantees pressure to the onboard fresh water circuit. The pump is located in front of the tank at the centre of the engine compartment, together with a pressure stabilisation tank. The pump is powered at 24 V DC by a thermomagnet of the electrical panel (EP). Once the pump is powered, it will start and stop automatically controlled by a pressure switch which detects the circuit pressure. If the pressure switch loses its setting or if there is a leak in the tank reservoir connected to the pump, this can cause the pump to start and start repeatedly in rapid succession. Therefore, always keep a close watch on the operation of the surge tank pump. A 45 l boiler for producing hot water is installed in the engine compartment and is powered by a thermomagnet located on the EP, section 220 V AC.

ATTENTION: WHEN SAILING, FREQUENTLY CHECK OPERATION OF THE SURGE TANK PUMP, AS A LEAK IN THE CIRCUIT UNDER PRESSURE OR SIMPLY A TAP LEFT OPEN CAN CAUSE FLOODING.

ATTENTION: CUT-OFF THE SURGE TANK PUMP POWER IN CASE YOU LEAVE THE VESSEL.

It is a good hygiene rule to pour a disinfecting solution in the filling pipeline circuit every other time you resupply water. During winter storage, we recommend you pour a considerable dose of concentrated disinfectant in the tank and empty the tank by opening all the outlets, so as to sanitise all the tubes and taps. This will prevent the formation of bacteria colonies in the tanks and in the onboard fresh water circuit.

WARNING: SCRUPULOUSLY CHECK THE SEAWATER INTAKES AND THE SEAWATER CIRCUITS AND ACT IMMEDIATELY IF LEAKS ARE DETECTED.

The seawater intakes are located on board in the bilge, dinette, sailor's cabin and in the engine compartment, and are equipped with a manual on-off valve. The seawater intakes supply the following onboard circuits: - engine and reversing gear cooling; - WC flush pump supply; - air conditioner compressor cooling; - generator cooling. Each engine cooling circuit also cools its reversing gear. These two cooling circuits can be used in emergencies, even for intake from the engine compartment bilge in case of serious flooding (see the chapter “BILGE EMPTYING”). The cooling water of each reversing gear also cools and lubricates the tail shaft liner for the propeller shaft it is connected to. It is a good rule to periodically check that the seawater filters are not particularly dirty or clogged. If you are sailing in waters that are not considered particularly clean, perform these checks more often. When sailing, get into the habit of often checking the thermometers and the outboard sea water outlets which must feature regular flow. Greater noise coming from the sea water pumps is a sign of partial obstruction. When cleaning a sea water filter carefully follow the instructions below: - Carefully close the sea water intake before opening the filter; - Once the filter is open, try to complete the operation you are doing so as to avoid leaving the circuit disassembled and unmanned;

- Avoid damaging the filter seal during reassembly; - Do not forget to reopen the sea water intake after reassembling the filter. If the boat is left unattended for a long time, it is best to close the sea water intake. Frequently check valve operation and tube connections. The condition of the sea water intake must be checked in case of boat dry haulage, with special attention to through hull connection and the absence of corrosion.

In case of emergency and only for serious flooding in the engine compartment, you can use the main engine cooling pumps to remove water from the bilge.

9.1 Draught pump and “water in bilge” alarm

The motor pumps are powered directly by the service batteries by means of a thermomagnet for each of them, located on the EP in the aft service compartment. Each pump starts up automatically by means of a signal indicating the presence of water in the bilge coming from a mercury float switch or other system, installed near the pump. It is also possible to start up each pump manually by using the pushbuttons, with "on" light, located on the console. Always keep a close watch on the bilge pump pilot lamps to detect if the automatic pumps start up too often. Should this occur, there is a leak which must be eliminated as soon as possible. If the water level in a watertight compartment rises to about 20 cm (due to pump failure or flooding owed to other causes) the "water level high" sensors will set off an acoustic alarm on the synoptic panel on the bridge, and an LED indicating the compartment involved will go on. The acoustic alarm can be turned off with the "silence" pushbutton. The LED will in any case continue to indicate the failure.

ATTENTION: FOR ECOLOGICAL REASONS IT IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN TO DUMP OIL RESIDUE THAT MAY BE PRESENT IN THE BILGE OVERBOARD. OIL RESIDUE MUST BE COLLECTED AND DISPOSED OF PROPERLY.

9.2 Emergency intake with engine cooling pumps

In case of emergency, your vessel is equipped with an intake device for the engine compartment bilge featuring a very high water capacity. Here valves that utilise the sea water and engine cooling pumps are used to take in water from the bilge. Usually, engine cooling is guaranteed by sea water taken in by the intakes located at centre boat and aft in the engine compartment: their valves must therefore be opened. The water then passes through the basket filters, which can be removed for cleaning, and finally reaches the engines; after having cooled the engines, it is discharged in the exhaust pipes.

In case of serious flooding of the engine compartment, in order to distribute water intake by the sea water intakes, follow in the order shown the instructions below: 1) open the bilge intake valve 2) close the sea water intakes When performing this emergency procedure, carefully follow the following instructions: - operations 1) and 2) must be carried out with the engines running - an expert person must be present in the compartment - constantly make sure that the bilge intakes are not clogged with waste, rags or other - to increase the emptying capacity, speed up the engines - as soon as the bilge water goes down to the emergency intake valves, reopen the sea water intakes and close the emergency valve, making sure

that the engines are being cooled and that their circuits are connected - Make sure not to forget both valves (sea water intake and bilge emergency) open simultaneously, as the water pouring from the sea would flood

the engine compartment.

10.1 Black waters discharge

The WCs in the main cabin and in the guest cabins work with sea water washing, each thanks to one of the pumps installed under the dinette floor. The pumps are powered by two thermomagnets on the EP, section 24 V DC. The black waters are collected in a 200 litre structural tank located under the floor in the centre of the engine compartment, equipped with a high and low level alarm and a manual motor pump for direct outboard discharge. You may also empty it at the dock by means of direct intake from the tank. Near each WC there is a small panel with a system control pushbutton and a light that indicates when the black waters tank is too full.

ATTENTION: BEFORE DISCHARGING INTO THE SEA MAKE SURE YOU ARE FAMILIAR WITH THE REGULATIONS IN FORCE IN THE COUNTRY IN WHOSE WATERS YOU ARE SAILING.

In any case it is forbidden to discharge black waters in the marinas, therefore always check the tank level and the position of the three-way valves before you arrive in a port. It is possible to empty the tank with the onboard pump either automatically or manually, by means of the two switches located on the EP, which also let you disable pump operation. When the selector is on automatic, the pump is controlled by a float inside the tank. Although the system has been designed to be extremely reliable, we suggest you remind your guests not to throw in the WC waste products that could clog the system and to use little toilet paper. Even the choice of toilet paper can effect the proper functioning of the system: choose a type that breaks up easily when wet.

Grey waters are collected in a tank installed under the dinette floor; water coming from showers are collected in the sumps located under the shower gratings and are automatically discharged into the grey waters collection tank by means of canned pumps located in the sumps. Grey waters are discharged directly into the sea: keep that in mind when you are docked in a marina. Remind your guests to use the fresh water on board with moderation, so as to extend the duration of the onboard reserve.

11. HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS

The boat features the following hydraulic systems for moving: a) helm b) flaps c) gangway d) stern gangplank e) hard top sunroof 11.1 Helm system

The steering gear is hydraulic and drives two twin helms by means of a hydraulic piston connected to the rudders (fig. 11-1). The helm shaft through-hull fittings are equipped with O-rings and anti-friction bushings. It is necessary to periodically check the seals and play and, if necessary, tighten the upper ring. The helm wheel is keyed on a pump that sends the oil under pressure to a hydraulic gearcase installed in the aft generator compartment. The gearcase serves as a power steering device thus reducing the effort required for manual manoeuvre, and it is also slave to the autopilot when the latter is being used. It is periodically necessary to check the oil level in the hydraulic gearcase tank. Near the hydraulic gearcase is a handle control that is used to open the piston bypass to allow manual emergency manoeuvring. In case of complete breakdown of the helm system, the boat is equipped with a metal emergency bar, that can be fitted in the shaft gusset of one of the two helms. In that case, we recommend you open the bypass, lock the bar in the centre and steer with the staggerd use of the engines and reversing gears. The autopilot is powered by the "PILOT PUMP" thermomagnet of the EP and can be controlled from the panel on the command bridge.

ATTENTION: BE CAREFUL NOT TO PLACE METAL OBJECTS OR EQUIPMENT THAT CAN AFFECT THE MAGNETIC FIELD NEAR THE AUTOPILOTS BUILT-IN COMPASS.

Aft, the levers that drive the helms are connected to a position sensor that provides the feedback signal to the autopilot system. Periodically check that the sensor lever is properly fastened and adjust it if necessary.

ATTENTION: PERIODICALLY CHECK THAT THE FEEDBACK IS FASTENED: A LOOSE DEVICE IMPLIES UNRELIABLE BOAT MANAGEMENT BY THE AUTOPILOT.

11.2 Flap system

The vessel is equipped with hydraulic flaps which can be controlled from the piloting position. The system is controlled by a hydraulic gearcase located in the aft compartment near the helms, on the left-hand side. The system is powered by the "FLAPS PUMP" thermomagnet of the EP.

On the dashboard there is an instrument that indicates the position of the flaps. The transducers that give the signal to the instruments are located in two boxes mounted aft. You must periodically check the calibration of the transducers (at least once every season). The use of the flaps allows you to find the best sailing position (in planing condition) regardless of the load, wind and sea conditions. Experience will help you find the best condition in any circumstance, in general. In any case, if the main direction of the waves is from the bow, the flaps should be lowered (low bow) to increase sailing comfort, and vice versa keep the bow high if the waves are coming from the stern, in order to improve directional stability.

11.3 Gangway system

The gangway mounted on the stern board is moved by hydraulic cylinders. The hydraulic gearcase is mounted at extreme aft on the left-hand side of the generator compartment. The gangway is powered by the "GANGWAY" thermomagnet of the EP. The gangway controls are located on the small panel in the cockpit, on the left. In case of electrical system failure, the gangway can be controlled with a hand pump mounted on the gearcase. Carefully read the specific instructions provided by the manufacturer.

ATTENTION: WHEN MOORING, EXTEND THE GANGWAY SO THAT IT DOES NOT HIT THE DOCK DUE TO THE TIDE EXCURSIONS.

WARNING: ONLY ONE PERSON MAY WALK ON THE GANGWAY AT A TIME. DO NOT MOVE THE GANGWAY WHILE SOMEONE IS WALKING ON IT. DO NOT USE THE GANGWAY AS A TRAMPOLINE.

11.4 Stern gangplank

The size of the stern gangplank is such to allow stowage of the pram. To make pram haulage easier, the gangplank can be lowered by means of a movement generated by the hydraulic cylinders.

When the boat is stopped, the hard top can be raised to permit greater ventilation in the front part of the cockpit. The hard top is moved by hydraulic cylinders. The hydraulic gearcase is mounted on the left-hand side on deck in the bulwarks opening. The hard top control is located in the upper centre above the front windscreen and is easily accessible from the piloting position.

The vessel features the fire-prevention devices provided for by the regulations in force (extinguishers and fuel flow interruption levers) (see diagram). On the control bridge, to the left of the piloting position, there is a synoptic of the boat with a fire alarm which is both acoustic and optical. The alarm is set off when the temperature of the engine compartment and dinette reach a high level. (see the chapter “ELECTRICAL SYSTEM”)

ATTENTION: ACT IMMEDIATELY IN CASE OF MALFUNCTIONS IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND IN THE FUEL SYSTEM.

13. CLIMATE-CONTROL SYSTEM

The vessel features a climate-control system powered at 220 V AC; therefore, for it to work, the onboard current generator or the dock plug must be connected. The system comprises a compressor group installed in the engine compartment on the starboard side, cooled by sea water and fan coils, with variable speed fans, located in the onboard compartments. Under the dinette floor, there is a special compartment that contains the distribution collector, while in the generator compartment there is a closed-circuit sea water pump with a sea water intake. Electrical power comes from two thermomagnets on the EP, section 220 V AC. Near the compressor there is a panel with a switch and an adjustment device. For further information, we recommend you consult the specific instructions supplied separately.

14. CHECK LIST

This section contains a table summarising the main activities to perform, while mooring, before sailing, during sailing and upon re-entry in the port. If you are still not familiar with your vessel, read this section carefully, and ask the Shipyard personnel and your Dealer explanations; following this list will give you the certainty of not having forgotten to perform any of the important activities required for safe sailing.

15. MANOEUVRES, PRECAUTIONS FOR EXHAUST GASES, ECOLOGY

The following pages contain suggestions to safely perform the main manoeuvres at sea, safety precautions for exhaust gases and instructions for protecting the sea environment. 15.1 Anchoring

ATTENTION: PREPARE YOURSELF FOR THIS MANOEUVRE IN DUE TIME, INFORM YOUR PASSENGERS OF WHAT IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN REMINDING THEM TO KEEP THEIR SEATS UNTIL THE MANOEUVRE HAS BEEN COMPLETED.

Free the chain from the quick-release safety stop. When you are near the area in which you will drop the anchor, steer so the bow is towards the wind or the current.

ATTENTION: KEEP HANDS AND/OR FEET AWAY FROM THE CHAIN RUNNING AREA AND THE BARBOTIN NEVER USE THE WINCH WHEN THE ENGINES ARE OFF AS THE HIGH ABSORPTION OF THE ELECTRICAL MOTOR CAN CAUSE THE BATTERY TO RUN DOWN PREMATURELY.

ATTENTION: WHEN THE ANCHOR WINCH IS NOT BEING USED OR WHEN YOU ARE ABOUT TO USE THE EMERGENCY LEVER, TO AVOID ACCIDENTAL OPERATION CUT OFF THE POWER TO THE ELECTRICAL LINE CONNECTED TO THE ANCHOR WINCH.

To drop the anchor electrically press the winch pushbutton on the bridge or "DOWN" on the mobile electrical control operated by a crew member aft. By dropping the anchor electrically you have perfect control of the operation which can be interrupted at any time; in addition, the chain will unwind in a regular and constant manner.

When the anchor has touched the bottom, slowly proceed in reverse maintaining slight tension on the chain until the right amount of chain has been lowered. (Indicatively you can lower anywhere between 3 and 5 metres of chain for each metre of depth in the place in which you are dropping anchor, but this indication may not apply in particular sea and wind conditions and for the type of seabed). In order to drop the anchor as quickly as possible, release the winch clutch using the emergency lever (turn anti-clockwise). In this way the barbotin will be free to turn on its axis dragging the chain into the water. The dropping of the chain can be slowed down by turning the emergency lever clockwise. Once the operation has been completed, strongly tighten the clutch. Before turning off the engines and considering the manoeuvre completed you must check if the anchor drags. To be absolutely sure that you are securely anchored, take a reference point on land and observe it at regular intervals. If the land reference remains fixed, you are properly anchored, otherwise the boat is dragging and you must repeat the operation. Once you are anchored we recommend, to reduce the stress on the anchor winch, you fasten the chain with a safety stop or, alternatively, tie it with a line to a fixed point. 15.2 Weighing anchor

Turn on the boat engines. Make sure the anchor winch clutch is tightened using the emergency lever. Press the winch pushbutton on the bridge or "UP" on the mobile electrical control panel operated by a crew member aft. Be especially careful of the last few metres of chain to avoid the anchor damaging the boat's bow.

ATTENTION: BEFORE SETTING SAIL FASTEN THE ANCHOR WITH A SAFETY CABLE. PERIODICALLY CHECK THE BARBOTIN CLUTCH TORQUE.

WARNING: DO NOT PRESS THE "UP" PUSHBUTTON FOR MORE THAN 20 SECONDS IF THE ANCHOR WINCH UNDER STRESS TENDS TO STOP AND THE THERMOMAGNETIC SWITCH STILL HAS NOT BEEN RELEASED. IF THE THERMOMAGNETIC SWITCH HAS BEEN RELEASED, WAIT A FEW MINUTES BEFORE RECOCKING IT TO TRY THE MANOEUVRE AGAIN. IF THIS STALL SITUATION REPEATS ITSELF WE RECOMMEND YOU MOVE THE VESSEL TO TRY AND FREE THE ANCHOR, AND STEER THE VESSEL AROUND THE ANCHOR UNTIL YOU FIND A FAVOURABLE ANGLE FOR PULLING AND FREEING THE ANCHOR.

15.3 Mooring

WARNING: BEFORE ENTERING THE PORT REDUCE SPEED TO THE MINIMUM.

ATTENTION: REMIND YOUR PASSENGERS TO KEEP THEIR PLACE UNTIL MOORING HAS BEEN COMPLETED.

Assign each crew member a task so that the bumpers, boathook and mooring lines are used correctly. Pay attention to the direction of the wind and its intensity. Act calmly and reflect upon the operation to perform.

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT IN THE WATERS OF THE MANOEUVRING AREA THERE ARE NO BATHERS, LINES, CHAINS OR OTHER OBJECTS THAT MAY BE IN THE WAY OF OR PREVENT PROPELLER ROTATION.

15.4 Leaving the vessel unmanned

Before leaving the vessel do as follows: Make sure that there are no engine leaks and that all is normal in the engine compartment.

Close all the hull passage valves (sea water intakes and discharges).

WARNING: REMOVE THE IGNITION KEY FROM THE DASHBOARD. Make sure port holes and human passage ways are closed: Turn the battery disconnection keys to cut off power from all onboard equipment.

ATTENTION: BEFORE LEAVING THE VESSEL CHECK THE TENSION OF THE MOORING LINES AND THE BUMPER POSITION AGAIN.

15.5 Refuelling

To avoid risk of fire during refuelling, do as follows: - Be very careful when performing mooring manoeuvres. - Do not smoke and enforce this rule among your passengers. - Locate the nearest extinguisher to use if needed. - Do not fill the tank over its maximum limit, so as to avoid excess fuel pouring out of the air hole. Once refuelling has been completed, carefully close the tank fuel cap and clean any fuel residue. Use fresh water to wash the area around the tank closing cap and the air hole.

15.6 Safety precautions for exhaust gases

ATTENTION: INHALING THE CARBON MONOXIDE PRESENT IN EXHAUST IS HARMFULTO YOUR HEALTH.

Adopt the following precautions:

a) Turn off the engines as soon as possible if you are in narrow areas and crowded docks. Remember that carbon monoxide is colourless and can enter the boat even if all windows, doors and hatches are closed.

b) The depressions generated during sailing in particular wind conditions can allow the exhaust gas to enter the cabin.

c) Always guarantee air passage below deck when moving. 15.7 Protecting the environment

Adopt the following precautions: a) Be very careful when refuelling to avoid overflow from the filler or air hole.

Fuel in the sea is particularly polluting.

b) Always keep the bilges clean by removing and disposing of, on land, oil residue which inevitably builds up in the engine compartment and deposits on the bottom of the bilge.

c) The water coming from the showers is discharged directly into the sea, by the shore where they can be harmful to the environment.

d) Each country may have different regulations as to environmental protection.

WARNING: IT IS MANDATORY TO KNOW AND ABIDE BY THE ANTI-POLLUTION REGULATIONS OF THE COUNTRY IN WHOSE WATERS YOU ARE SAILING.
