This heater is designed as a fixed appliance and must be securely fixed to the floor of the room. lt is for use with Propane gas only andmust be installed by a competent person in accordance with the rules in force and in a well venti lated area. To ensure that the oxygen levelin the room does not drop dramatically, an oxy-protector unit is incorporated. This turns off the heater if the oxygen level should fall. Aflame failure devise shuts down the unit if the pilot l ight blows out.

NOTE: Allow 3 minutes between turning offthe heater and attempting to relight.

REGULATIONS AND CODES OF PRACTICEln your own interests and the of safety it is the law ihat all appliances be installed by a competent person(e.9. Corgi registered) in accordance with the requirements and recommendations, where applicable, of:

A) FOR GREAT BRITAIN (GB):1. Gas safety (lnstallation and Use) Regulations 1994 (as amended)2 . B .S 5482Paf t1 .1994otPat t2 : 19773. Building regulations issued by the Department ofthe Environment and the Building Standards (Scotland) (Consolidated)

Regulations issued by the Scoftish Developments Departmenl.1. Ant other relevant British Codes of Practice.2. Theselnstallationlnstructions.3. B.S 864Patlz.

B) FOR IRELAND ( IE) :installations canied out in lreland should be in acmrdance with any national rules in force. The minimum requirements given below mustbe applied to the installation, but in addition, any relevant national rules in force must be followed in preference to these ifthese rules aremore extensive or stringent than the requirements given.

INSTALLATION

'1. Check the room ventilation. Pemanent and unobstructed ventilation must be provided in all rooms containing anunflued heater operating on solid fuel, oil or gas.

2. Locate the heater in the required position, no nearer than 200mm to any wall, or 300mm below any shelf or glass. lf usedin a greenhouse environment, the average greenhouse has a turbulent atmosphere with hot air rising to be cooledagainst the glass to fall down the sides. These convection currents are assisted by the heat, ideally the heater should beplaced centrally beneath the apex, at the opposite end to the opening door. (see Diagram 1 )Locate the holes in the base flange ofthe heater and mark through with a pencil.Removeheater ,d r i l l th roughthecent reo feachho le ,su i tab le fo ra l " NoSwoodscrew(usep lugs i f f loor isconcre te)Place heater over holes, insert screws and tighten.Pipe back to the gas cylinder, terminating in an approved 14' w.g. (37mbar) regulator with POL termination. On noaccount may the gas cylinder be kept inside the building, but outside, preferably on a hard standing surface. A 1 ommhole must be dril led through the wall, and a 8mm pipe connected from the heater through the 1omm hole to theregulator, using compression fitt ings complying with B.S 846 PART 2. All pipework must be adequately supported andshielded. Pipe and itt ings can be obtained from your authorised dealar (Remove red thread plug by unscrewing)NOTE: This installation must be carried out by a competent person. It is advisable that the outside door be fully open until the pressure testing/ commissioning procedure is complete toallow rapid dispersion of any inadvertent propane spillage.

8. Turn the gas ON at the cylinder, check all pipework for leaks with a soapy solution, bubbles wil l appear if any leak is detected.Remember in addition to the safety hazard, unburned propane gas, even in minute proportions, is harmful to plants, so a leak freeinstallation is essential.

L Press and hold the gas plunger, depress the spark ignitor, repeat unti l pilot is l i t.Keep the plunger depressed for a further 10 seconds then release slowly. On frst operation lhe pipework may be ftlled with air and ignition will not be achieved until this air is purged out of the pipework, thismay take a few minutes.

10. When the pilot f lame has been ignited hold the button in for a furthell0 seconds and then release slow|y.The pilot should now remain l it.

'12. Turn the heater OFF by shutting the gas offatthe supply.

PLEASE NOTE:The gas valve in this heater is always open (unless turned off at the gas cylinder) which means that controllingit can only be done by adjusting the thermostat temperature with the black plastic knob on the side of theappliance. lt also means that the bumer flame bums at its maximum height whether the thermostat is set at alow or a high temperature. The thermostats are factory set between 6"C - 38"C. Setting the thermostat temperature is a trial & errorprocedure so it is recommended that a household thermometer be used to helo determine individualtemperature settings.

MANUAL IGNITIONIn the event of non operation of the ignitor, it is possible to ignite the pilot with an extra long match. These are readily available from mosl supermarkels and good hardware slores. The position of the burner can be seenby looking down into the combustion chamberlhrough the front grill. The match should beInserted through the hole in the left hand side panel. Operate the control knob as described in the operating instructions.

FAULT FINDING1. Pilot will not light.a) Check that the pilol can be lit with a match, if not, check pilot jet for obstruction, replace if necessary.b) lfthe pilot will light, check spark ignitor ensuring the gap to pilot burner does not exceed 4mm. ensure

spark does not track to earth along lead or eleclrode. lfthere is no spark replace oxyprotecl, lead orpiezo as necessary.Main burner lights but will not stay lit.Check the gas pressure by following points 9) to 1 3) in the installation sectionCheck that the main burne.jet is free from obstruction.Check the gas pressure at the cylinder.

THERMOSTAT SENSOR POSITIONINGThe thermostat supplied with this model is not 1007o accurate it is therefore important to ensure that the sensor probe iscorrectly positioned to sense and respond to the changing temperatures so that best resulls can be obtained, this is a TRIAL& ERROR procedure as not all greenhouses are the same.Positioning the probe further away from the heater will make the healer run hofter and for longer alternatively positioning theprobe neater the heater will tum the thermostat off at lower temperatures. Make sure it is not effected by draughls or directsunlight which will give false reaclions.

Economizing of gas usage can be found by lining the greenhouse with bubble insulation of by curtaining off parts of laruergreenhouses and lherefore reducing the area to be heated.

IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT VENTILLATION IS PROVIDED TO THE GAS HEATER ON A PERMANENT BASIS.

-,---:S>'} c= ) @'.-_---.:---+

WARNINGWhen the heater is not in use it must be suitably stor€d and protected. In some areas, spiders and other smallinsects have been found to spin webs and/or cocq)ns an the venturi tube and gas burner. These obetructions result in a characteristic yellow flame, or possibly a flash back fire. lf this occurs the heatermust not b€ us€d until the obstructions have bEEn cl€ared by a competsnt person.
