This level of service is expected in this region, and Huawei is willing to provide the training and support to maintain these services in the future. “We aren’t only providing solutions or products,” says Wu, “We are engaging in a knowledge transfer, so customers are trained on their systems for years to come.”

Huawei has been coming to GITEX for years, and expanding each year. As to their future plans at GITEX – “Of course we will be back,” says Wu with confidence. “We are a major IT player in the Middle East, and it is important for us to be here.”

HID Global has lined up a portfolio of solutions addressing the customer’s needs for physical access control and identity assurance at GITEX Technology Week.

It is displaying smart applications that address the enterprise’s, financial institution’s and government’s security requirements.

On the smart devices front, the

company is also demonstrating FARGO printers, physical access control readers and cards and logical access control range. HID Global is also highlighting emerging technologies that leverage Bluetooth Smart to simplify mobile access.

imaging parts of Kodak.Showcasing at GITEX this year,

KnowledgeShare is a framework of hardware and software solutions to enable customers to automatically capture and consolidate corporate data from digital and paper sources, understand and then gain invaluable knowledge from it.

David Whitton, Eastern Cluster Manager, Document Imaging, Kodak Alaris says, “Our document imaging product business is known for its paper digitisation prowess. This year we have more component solutions, we are not just talking about data in terms of paper but in any format it interacts with the organisation. We are trying to bring intelligence into data.”

“Our KnowledgeShare concept is about how we do that and we want to do this with partners and see how we can connect that knowledge together in the right way to reach a solution that will actually solve the issues for our customers.”

The company is looking at showcasing the fact that it is more than just a scanner company. Whitton says it is not just a paper-focused company but focuses on how customers use information to communicate with organisations.

In the desktop and departmental category Kodak Alaris grew double in the last 12 months, and maintained its top position in the production scanner segments.

DVCOM masters IP telephonyDVCOM Technology, an open source VoIP Telephony and Networking Solutions Company, comes to GITEX every year as a value-added distributor (VAD).

Middle East is DVCOM’s legacy market; the company had started IP solutions distribution business from the region in 2007 – that was also the first year it had exhibited at GITEX, Renjan George, Managing Director, DV COM said.

“We had acquired distributorship for Asterisk for its IP telephony technologies the same year. With technical expertise in the business, we signed technology partners over the years with solutions that complement Asterisk’s products,” George added. “These include DreTech Computers, Yealink – provider pf SIP phones, Matrix Comsec, Yeaster enterprise communication, Dinstar VoIP solution provider, and our most recent partner – 2N telecom. We have also certified to offer training to the Asterisk staff.”

DVCOM is the technology arm of Al Mashka Group which is the largest distributor of Panasonic worldwide. Outside the Middle East, the company has business in India and plans to have a stronger footprint in Africa over the next few years.” The company has experienced 60 percent growth in the region year-on-year since it started operations, he added.

DVCOM had organized a partner meet yesterday that brought together all of the company’s resellers and system integrators from the region – twenty percent of these have been recently brought on board, George added. Confident of the company’s technical expertise, George was proud to note that DVCOM will soon launch a training university in Dubai.
