History Glimpse One day Steve Becker was looking for a way to pass hoses through the concrete wall of the old church basement in order to pump water from the wood drying project. What he found was an unexpected treasure. In a crumbling box hidden at the back of a storage area underneath the steps lead-ing to the old convent (demolished years ago), he found a lamp with its heavy counterbalance and chain. Steve pulled the lamp out, worked to untangle it and hang it up so that he could tell what it was. The lamp was depressing, Steve says, “not a shiny spot anywhere, old, abandoned, just maybe a piece of broken junk. Not even a red lens.” After some investigation of old church pictures, it was determined that the lamp had once been the sanctuary lamp in the old church as far back as 1932, and possibly even from the beginning of the old church in 1910. Perhaps during the renovations of the old church sanctuary in the late 1960s, that sanctuary lamp was removed and a new one put in. (The rest of the story next week.)

As you walked into church today, you may have no-ticed the progress being made on the parish play-ground. We are quickly approaching the July 7th in-stall date for the equipment. It is exciting! As we ap-proach the install date, I have three request: First, and most importantly, pray for a successful and safe in-stall. All through our various projects, I am completely convinced your prayers have made us successful. Sec-ond, we are doing the install ourselves and are looking for volunteer help. You do not need any construction experience. We are starting at 8 am on Saturday, July 7th. If you would be interested in helping, please feel free to sign the sheet in the back. Finally, since we are doing the install ourselves there are some tools that we are in need of borrowing to successfully complete the install. If you have any of the tools listed below that you would be willing to let us borrow for one day, please contact me at the rectory. The tools we are in need of borrowing for the day are:!!
