Carpet Tile Recovery Service Milestones Between 2005 and 2007 we dramatically increased the amount of recycled raw materials used throughout our product range. In 2007 we switched the primary backing used in all our scroll products to Colback SMR which is made from 100% post-consumer recycled PET In 2008 we introduced LiteLock, an innovative EVA-based precoat that reduces application weights by almost 50%. As a result we reduced our precoat consumption that year by over 30 tonnes. In 2009 Quadrant became a founder member of Carpet Recycling UK an alliance of carpet manufacturers committed to increasing carpet recycling rates. In 2010 a number of our products were certified with BREEAM environmental profiles and awarded BRE “A” Ratings for use in offices, educational and healthcare facilities and retail and leisure facilities. In 2011 we introduced our Carpet Tile Recovery Service to divert waste carpet tiles from landfill into one of our recovery programmes. The answer is simple. Every year

more than 500,000 tonnes of

carpet ends its life in landfill. There

is limited landfill space available,

and this will be virtually depleted

by 2020, so landfill tax is increasing

and is set to rise to £100/tonne by

2014. And of course landfilling

waste is not an environmentally

sustainable waste solution.

When it comes to disposal,

carpet tiles are bulky and virtually

indestructible. Disposing of them

in a skip may seem like an easy

option, but taking positive action

and keeping them out of landfill is

not as difficult as you might imagine.

By using our Carpet Tile Recovery

Service you can take positive

action now and recycle used

carpet tiles hassle-free and at a

cost comparable to landfill charges.

This is one of many positive

actions we are taking as part of

our Tread Lightly initiative, which

charts our path to environmental

sustainability.

“We don’t have all the answers

and we have a long path to travel,

but rest assured, we will always

be taking positive action”

James ScullyManaging Director

Why recover used carpet tiles?

We have a series of initiatives

to divert carpet tiles from

landfill.

Re-use

We will grade and

clean recovered

carpet tiles ready

for re-use on future

projects. Re-using carpets can provide

significant benefits when it comes to

BREEAM, LEED and SKA accreditation.

The process is carried out by a socially

responsible enterprise that provides

engagement and training opportunities

for people who have been excluded

from working in the wider community.

Recycling

Depending on the

type of backing we

will closed-loop

recycle the carpet

tiles, and incorporate the recyclate

into new carpet backing. Alternatively

we will separate and downcyle the

main components, with the recycled

material reprocessed or diverted to

suitable applications such as road

surfacing products.

Waste to Energy

We will shred

recovered carpet

tiles for use as a

supplementary fuel

for cement kilns.

What will we do withthe waste carpet tiles? How does it work?

2. If you are happy with the quotation

we will arrange for bags (and pallets

if needed) to be supplied to site.

The cuts can be put into the bags,

and the full tiles palletised, shrink

wrapped and stored, undercover

and on solid ground.

3. At an agreed time we will collect

the pallets and bags from site and

divert the carpet tiles from landfill

into one of our recovery

programmes.

1. Simply give us a call

or email us. Based on the

information you give us we

will prepare a quotation for

the recovery of the waste

carpet tiles.
