Slytherclaw.Amusing.Curious.
I started reporting for the Manistee News Advocate on Jan. 13. I moved to Manistee from Gaylord. I specifically looked for places in northern Michigan that value journalism, thorough reporting and have a welcoming vibe. I love the outdoors as well and that factored into my decision to apply here. I learned how strong the newspaper’s values truly are and that is something I take pride in joining. I am excited to check out the nearby wooded trails for snowshoeing and hiking. In the spring and summer, I’d like to get out for some kayaking and cycling as well as weekend backpacking trips on the Manistee River Trail. When there is no snow on the ground in winter and I’m not feeling into the drab, unseasonal trails, I love cooking or trying different creative dishes at local restaurants. Locally, I am always looking for small businesses that fit with my lifestyle and tastes. For food and drink, my favorite coffee is The Fillmore’s French press coffee. One of my top picks for food is Taco ‘Bout It Mexican Fusion’s barbacoa taco. I also really dig a good cider, and North Channel Brewing Company’s raspberry cider is right down my alley.
