To remove the had been given the railroad company to vacate as per thair agreement but by consent they ;M.U.R. Loop had agreed to remove the loop on July 6th. 7. Mr. Halladay presented a statement from Mr. Davidson, special accountant, concerning the Report from budget condition. On motion of Mr. McColl it was voted that the services of Mr. Davidson be continued until such time as the new system of accounting and book-keeping be put into operation. 8. 4. The President reported that he had asked Dean Shaw to serve as Chairman of a special committee to investigate the Menominee County School project and Dean Shaw presented a report of the committee and outlined plans already in mind* The President further reeommecuded that this committee with such additions as may be desirable, be made a com­mittee to serve for two years as the Cormittee in Charge of the Menominee County Agri­cultural School* Committee: Dean Shaw. Prof* Cox, Mr. Hill* Mr* Putnam and Mr. Phelan*

On motion of Mr. MePbsrson it was voted that the report of Dean Shaw be accepted and that a copy be placed on file in the Secretaryfs office*

5* The President recornmeoaded that the Board reimburse the Upper Peninsula Boy! s and Girls Club for the material lost in the Chatham fire. The amount of loss is #1024.43

On motion of Mrs* Stoclman it was voted that an amount not to exceed #1000 be appropriated to replacd the material lost and that the matter be turned over to the Purchasing Agent of the college*

On motion of Mr. Watkins it was voted that the matter be left to the President.

7. On motion of Mr. Watkins it was voted that the matter relative to the conferring of a degree on Willard Hopkins be referred to the President*

County Councils of Agrl* -statement of purpose, etc.

8. The President reported a plan drawn up by the Extension Service and endorsed by Dean Shaw relative to statement of purpose and policy of County Councils of Agriculture and Country Life and recomnended that the matter be left to the Board Committee and the President with power.

Upkeep of park between blvd.

10. Secretary Halladay raised a-question in regard to the cost of upkeep of the park in the double row of Elms.

On motion of Mr. McColl it was voted that ths suggestion made by Alderman Hallmanf that the expense of the upkeep of the strip between the driveways of the boulevard along the north line of the campus, be equally divided between the city of East Lansing and the college, be accepted.

1. President Butterf ield asked about the trip to the Upper Peninsula.

On motion of Mr. McColl it was voted that a meeting of the Board be held at Chatham August 15 and that the Dunbar School be visited on the way there.

2. Ihe President made a statement concerning the newspaper report about a certain drinking party.

3. President Butterf ield announced the Commencement Week Program.

X. KBW BUSINESS FROM MMBERS OF THE BOARD OH PBBSIDBTO.

1. On motion of Mr* McColl it was voted that #50,000 be allowed from the budget for major repairs and minor improvements for the coming year.

2. On motio n of Mr. Watkins it was voted that tlB Union Literary Society'be offered the use of a house owned by the college on Charles street for the coming year in ex­change for the use of the Union Literary house.

3. On motion of Mr. Brody it was voted that the Purchasing!* Agentfs car be turned in toward a new one and that the Secretary be directed to make the exchange.

4# On motion of Mrs. Stockman it was voted that tte next meeting of the Board be held Wednesday July 29th, at 9 a.m.
