RE: The State of the Parish
It’s always been my policy to be as transparent as possible. Two years ago we were experiencing difficulties at the school and when our beautiful parishioners were notified they responded very generously with their gracious gifts. Now, our school, under the leadership of our principal
Kimberly Stevenson, with the assistance of her staff, our great teachers, and Advisory Council, is flourishing.
Through the merger into St. James Parish and despite the pandemic, we have been holding our own. However, recent months have revealed the effects of the virus on our finances. September and October reported operational losses of over $20,000 each month. Prior to our merger, important steps to minimize our expenses were taken, but our collection totals have decreased significantly.
Presently, our savings is being used to help us through this difficult time, but I felt obligated to make you aware of what we are experiencing. I realize that this is a difficult time for everyone and the effects of the pandemic are known to every family. However, at the prompting of the Finance Council, I am writing to make you aware of our parish situation and, in advance, express gratitude for your generous concern and support. May God bless you and your family abundantly.
Those who are pro-choice argue that the woman has bodily autonomy over the unborn baby’s life, and therefore she has the right to do with her body as she pleases. What they don’t realize is that there’s another life involved here. There’s a tiny human baby growing and developing in his mother’s womb from the day of conception, so that one day, he will make his entrance into the world. This little life is a gift from God. All human rights begin with the right to life.

Living their faithAt their annual Christmas Gathering, the Catholic Daughters collect baby supplies for Genesis and monetary donations for the St. Vincent de Paul Society. COVID prevented the Daughters from having their Christmas Party this year, but it didn’t dampen their giving spirit! When they prepared their monthly City Mission Lunch, they were able to collect items and money. Pictured, from left, are Robin Krofcheck, Laraine McGinnis, Peggy Pizzi, Mae Hunter, Linda Kubacka, Elizabeth Meade, Debbie Costello, and Carol Brosnahan

year when darkness is the longest.
