12 WORSHIPPING THE MOST HOLY TRINITY Holy Trinity with Mary Magdalene, John the Baptist and Tobias and the Angel (Pala della Convertite) We celebrate today the Most Holy Trinity, the unity of God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We rejoice in how God has revealed Himself to us in his fullness so that ‘whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life’ (John 3:16) as we hear in today’s Gospel. Our public worship of God, Father, Son and Spirit, remains, however, in ‘lockdown.’ We still have no news on when the church will reopen, initially for private prayer. However the presbytery hall is filling up with hand gel, masks, disinfectant, hazard tape, aprons and various signs in preparation for that day! Last weekend I asked you to consider if you could help with supervising the church, cleaning after it has closed or both; plans will develop but initially we are planning to open the church for an hour each day except Wednesday: after Mass from 10am – 11am on Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday; before mass from 6pm – 7pm on Thursday after Mass from 12pm-1pm on Sunday The number of volunteers to help me will determine how long we are able to open for. Tabernacle Veils – If you have recently been watching our live streamed masses you may have noticed that a new white tabernacle veil has been acquired. It is made in Poland by the company who manufactured our diocesan vestments using the same material. From time to time people ask Fr Graham whether they can contribute towards something for the church, perhaps in memory of a departed loved one or in appreciation of a favour received. In time we will procure a new pair of stained glass windows in the sanctuary. Yet if anyone would like to make a specific offering towards the purchase one of the tabernacle veils in the other liturgical colours of purple, green and red then please contact Fr Graham. Alternatively if you think that you would be able to make one using the same material that would be great! Thank you.

Holy Mass intentions – With the closure of the parish office fewer Mass intentions are being received. If you would like a Mass offered for a particular intention or for someone, living or deceased, please contact Fr Graham. Mass intentions are available from early July. You are reminded that the suggested mass offering in the diocese is £10 which goes, with thanks, to support the priest who celebrates the Mass.

Online Reflections and ‘Lectio Divina’ – From 7.30pm this Thursday, 11th June, Fr Graham will again host a time of reflection followed by a ‘Lectio Divina’ – a prayerful scripture reading and meditation - on the next Sunday’s Gospel using Zoom, This will use the materials provided by St Bueno’s Jesuit Spirituality Centre. If you would like to join us for all or part of the hour or so please e-mail Fr Graham for the Zoom link. You can get a preview of the materials, or use them yourself, at https://stbeunosoutreach.wordpress.com/. Do join us and meet some new faces in the parish and help us build community in these challenging times.

Spiritual Support - A helpful summary is available on www.rcdow.org.uk under ‘Resources During Mass Suspension’ in the News Centre. In addition there is a ‘Dial a Mass’ from the Middlesbrough for those who do not have internet access; the number to call is 01642 130120. Mass starts whenever you call!

On Sunday 14th June, the Sunday Worship Programme, which airs at 8.10am on BBC Radio 4, will broadcast Mass celebrated by the Cardinal in Westminster Cathedral. Please share this welcome news with family and friends who do not have access to the internet and are thus unable to watch livestreamed Masses.

Spiritual Communion - You are encouraged to gather, especially on a Sunday, as a household and join in a Spiritual Communion; details on how to make a Spiritual Communion are available with this newsletter.

Financial support for of the parish - Many of you will be facing uncertainties regarding income and employment as a result of the pandemic but thank you to those of you who able to continue to support the parish financially at this time through regular giving. If you do not contribute in this way and would like to then the simplest way to donate is with a bank transfer. For further details and/or to donate please visit our parish website and click on the ‘donate’ tab. Thank you for your support.

Prayer is not asking. Prayer is putting oneself in the hands of God, at His disposition, and listening to the voice in the
