Overview
OverviewLil’ Guppies Scuba School is a new business with no history. They are in need of a logo design that will appeal to children and their guardians.
MissionTo provide young children with opportunities to learn how to swim, learn how to scuba dive, and learn water safety.
VisionWe want to give children a fun and safe environment to learn how to swim and scuba dive. We teach the proper techniques for children to become strong swimmers and have a great adventure.
ObjectiveThe client would like a new logo to reflect its business. The logo is to include text of the business name as well as a symbol. The logo needs to be scalable and used on a wide variety of media formats.
Target AudienceThe current audience is parents and guardians who want to enroll their children in swim lessons and scuba lessons.

Rationale
Rationale
The company wanted a logo that would stand out and be distinguishable from other designs in black and white, or in color. The black and white version will capture the focus of
children, being cartoony in design. The bright, vibrant, playful colors further grasp their attention. Ignoring color, for now, I attempted to appeal to parents/guardians with a professional/sophisticated-looking font; then made it a bit
more playful, by filling in fun colors.
The fish and the goggles both relate to swimming, and the goggles further relate to scuba-diving. While the snorkel is
most closely related to snorkeling, it’s also a commonly known tool for learning to swim. Bringing it all together, and
adding a relation to water safety, is the life ring buoy. The wonderful thing about the basic outlined life ring is that it not only eases guardians’ safety concerns for their children, but it will most likely be seen, by children, not as a life-saving
buoy, but as a fun, pool floaty.
Look how happy the guppy is in this logo! As an adult looking at this logo, you want your child to be having as
much fun as Lil’ Guppy, while wearing proper eye protection, and following critical water-safety practices. As a
child looking at this logo, you’ll see a friend to play with, someone to show you that swimming and scuba-diving safely
is fun and exciting.

Rationale (cont.)
Rationale
I mixed a total of 6 unique colors; orange, dark blue, yellow, light blue, red, and yellow. The warm colors (red, yellow and
orange), evoke energy, positivity, and happiness. Orange represents, in relation to my design, health and vitality. The
orange I created leans more towards yellow than red, creating a more inviting, playful, atmosphere. Yellow
represents happiness and hope, and easily grabs the vision of a viewer. I mixed in some cyan to offset the yellow, just a tad,
to compliment the light blue. The cool colors (blues), are meant to ease the viewer (emotionally). Blue, aside from its
common relation to water, is calming, but light blue, specifically, is known to be refreshing and friendly (adding to the playful theme I was going for across the board). The dark blue is there as an accent to the light blue, which is the main
focus.
With this fun, energetic, playfully-inviting, yet respectfully sophisticated logo, Lil’ Guppies Scuba School will be well on their way to becoming a world-renowned swimming, scuba,
and water safety school for kids!
