Based on a true story

The Untold Story of Tupac’s Last Days Told Through the eyes of a friend.

7Dayz, is the story of an Iranian kid that comes to America amidst the hostage crisis in Iran. He gets a first hand taste of hatred being called a camel jockey and a sandnigger. Not really even fitting in the U.S, until a twist of fate and careers, makes him Tupac Shakur’s production partner. Tupac ends up being the first person to ever recognize something special in this out of place Iranian young man.

7 Dayz Based on a True Story

7 DayzWriter/Director: Gobi M. Rahimi

Producer: Preston L. Holmes

Director of Photography: David V. Daniel

Casting Director: Sheila Jaffe (The Fighter, Contraband)

Budget: 4.2M

Genre: Drama

Status: Development

Possible Shooting Locations: Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York, Massachusetts

Production Dates: Fall of 2015

Confirmed Cast: Tupac Amaru Shakur (Archival footage Owned by Gobi) The uniqueness of this film is that every scene that Tupac is in, will be actual footage of himself.

Given all the tension between Deathrow and Tupac’s camp,  Pac’s going to Vegas didn’t feel right, so Gobi also decided to go. Once Gobi found out Tupac had been shot, Gobi went straight to the hospital and ended up sitting security for a week for his friend and business partner, amidst death threats, FBI informants and a non cooperative Police Department.  Given Hollywood’s new desire for urban content (Dope, Straight Out Of Compton, Empire) and the relevancy of todays ongoing civil rights issues and how they factored into Tupac message, the timing for this film is ideal. (The 20th anniversary of Tupac’s death is 2016)

Comparable Projects

Film BudgetThe film’s budget, including all development, production, post-production, and delivery costs, of a 7Dayz feature film, Documentary Series and soundtrack estimated at $6,150,000.00.

Narrative Feature $4,200,000.00

7 part, 1 hour doc series $1,500,000.00

All Stars Unity Album $450,000.00

Traditionally, the life of a film is broken down into six phases:

• Development• Pre-production• Production• Post-production• Distribution• Exhibition/Exploitation

The Producers aim to produce the film in the states, as well as internationally, with the most aggressive film incentive programs (refer to Tax Considerations section for additional details), which, through tax rebates and credits, can reduce production expenditures by as much as 30%.

The film’s production advisors have considerable experience in creating the most conservative production budgets possible, while protecting the creative integrity and cast value of each film. The key production personnel have histories well known in the entertainment community. These personnel (Line Producers, Cinematographers, Production Designers, Composers, and the like) are placed into positions of great responsibility according to their historic abilities to control costs, while maintaining high production value.

High quality, moderately budgeted urban films, are especially sought after by worldwide buyers; and the willingness of major stars and directors to work within this budget range has been fueled over recent years by major studios’ wholesale abandonment of internally produced films of this size and scale. The corporate conglomeration of Hollywood has dictated the production of moderately budgeted films to independent production companies. The average major studio film budget for 2009 exceeded $100 million, according to the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA). It is a compelling opportunity for first class producers. It is a calculated strategy to produce a $15M -$20M, star-driven feature film with an emphasis on minimizing risks for equity stake-holders, maximizing short term returns, and building long term catalog value.

Distribution

The motion picture industry is highly competitive, with much of a film's success depending on the skill of its distribution strategy. As independent producers with a privately funded, high-quality product, the Production Entity is ideally positioned to negotiate with major distributors for the distribution and wide release of “7 Dayz”

It is the goal of the producers of Coup to do “output” distribution deals with selected studios, in order to control finances and creativity that are commonly problematic through the studio system. With this distribution strategy in place, the producers and financiers have control over accounting, production, and the creative aspects of the film, all the while harnessing the well established studio system’s distribution machine.
