7: Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

• Preliminary exercise: Continuity task involving filming and editing a character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting down in a chair opposite another character, with whom she/he then exchanges a couple of lines of dialogue. This task should demonstrate match on action, shot/reverse shot and the 180-degree rule.

• Main task: the titles and opening of a new psychological horror film, to last a maximum of two minutes.

• The things that we have taken through to the main task from the preliminary exercise were, match on action, 180 degree line and shot reverse shot. These were all used in the conversation between Nick and Faye in the cafe when they meet for the first time. We have got better at keeping continuity by having more continuity in the match on actions and in shot reverse shots. In the main task we used a point of view shot of a text message and of a mirror to make the audience focus on the message and on the mirror.
