•History:•Began in March 1990 as independent

company.•Britain’s first 24hour black music radio

station.•Slogan: Your Number One Urban Station•Listening Figures: 3147000

General Profile

•Target audience of 15- to 34-year-olds •And someone that has an appreciation for

black music, lifestyle and culture.•Choice FM uses – Urban music which we

also did in DeuceFM•Choice FM – language: Sounds like a

conversation, humour, slang – appropriate for teenagers which we also used.

•The news that Choice FM use are mainly to do with HipHop and RnB stars.

•We also used similar news for our entertainment section

6. What have you learnt about technology from the process of constructing this product?

Analogue•Analogue - used before digital. • Signal is taken from a microphone and

laid on to tape in an analogue tape recorder.

•Wave on the tape can be read and sent to a speaker to produce the sound.

•Advantages of using analogue is better sound quality.

Digitisation•Digitisation - convert the sound into

numbers which can be stored on computer. •Advantages: •Provides clear sound comparable in quality

to CDs.•No storage limits, 24/7 access.•Downloaded by anyone.•Multiple access•Historical data can be stored safely

DAB Digital Radio• Signal always gets through no matter what

comes between your radio and transmitter.• Can 'Rewind radio', record programmes in real

time or set a timer, download audio and data. • List by station name• Unaffected by pirate radio• LCD Screen• How it works: Two technologies combine.

Mp3 Recorder•MP3 device - used to record voice of the

public. Can be played back.•Produces an audio file format. Data can

be stored and turned into a Mp3 and also edited on “Audacity”.

•I’ve also used the Iphone soundrecorder to record

•Minimisation – Reducing the size of technology to the smallest size possible.

•Portability – radio can be heard in car, from a phone or objects such as a pen.

Technological Convergence and Web 2.0

•Different technological systems to evolve towards performing similar tasks.

•Web 2.0 – interacting with world wide web.

•E.g. Social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace, blogs, video sharing sites and many more.
