Is 15 minutes coffee run worth it?
The average office coffee run takes about 15 minutes, but lost time doesn't necessarily mean lost productivity, according to Positivity Institute
founder and leading psychologist Dr Suzy Green. In fact, "micro-breaks", to get good coffee or have
it in a nearby cafe, are "absolutely essential for peak performance”. Coffee stimulates your brain
making it so much easier to do stuff faster!

No more drama, no more mistakes!
Researchers at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine found that that caffeine helped improve workers' memory and concentration as
well as reducing the number of mistakes they made. The researchers also suggested that
drinking coffee could help reduce accidents at work, traffic crashes involving people at the end of long shifts and even medical errors by doctors on
call for long periods of time.

Take it easy, man!Researchers at the Seoul National
University discovered that exposition to coffee aromas influences changes in brain
proteins tied to stress linked to sleep deprivation. The coffee break can also
reduce the stress levels as it is much easier to cope with stressful situations with others
who can assist or give advice in your office environment.

If it’s good enough for Apple, it’s good enough for you!
Did you know that Jony Ive had a secret coffee ritual with his team when working on ideas for
Apple? Jony Ive and his elite design team at Apple are coffee snobs. And rightfully so.
!Coffee is the fuel that drives their brainstorming
sessions, which are arguably the most crucial meetings in the design department. These sessions
are where Apple has birthed some of the greatest products of all-time: the iMac, the iPod, the iPhone, and the iPad. It’s safe to say – no coffee, no iPhone!

Our brains do need to have a little rest - they just can't be on all the time. And it's often in the
breaks where you get your creative ideas. And when people meet in a different environment
than their cubicle or office that’s when the most creative ideas happen. If you're looking at a coffee situation, you might have people from different teams coming together, so you get
some cross-fertilisation of ideas.
The time is right! And it is right now!
Caffeine works best when served at certain times and yes those times include the times when you are at work! Your body works on a rythm and is guide by
what is know as the circadian clock. It is the hormonal cycle that occurs in your body. The best
time to have coffee in this cycle is when your cortisol levels drop – that is between 9:30 and 11:30; between
1:30 and 5:00 pm . Needless to say these are the times most of us are at work and deserve a good
coffee break!

Don’t worry, be happy! Have coffee!
A study done by the National Institute of Health found that those who drink four or more cups of coffee were
about 10 percent less likely to be depressed than those who had never touched the java. And apparently
it's not because of the "caffeine high”. Coke can also give you a caffeine high, but it's linked to depression.
Caffeine can also reduce stress levels and that is something your boss needs to know, too.
