Dear Friends, We are about to begin a new year of Religious Education in our parishes. Regardless of your age or your family’s age it is important that we view this as a community endeavor. Passing on the gift of faith that was entrusted to us is a fundamental obligation assumed at Baptism. In a society in which religion in general is strictly relegated to the realm of private matters it is critical to use the opportunity the programs present to teach our young people about the richness of our Catholic faith. A pastoral associate I worked with in a previous assignment used to say, “If you know your faith you will love your faith.” I agree with her. Let’s not look at our Religious Education programs as someone else’s job or responsibility. It is one of our most important ministries. Please thank and encourage our wonderful volunteer cate-chists. Faith Formation St. John
Catechist Needed. A catechist is needed for Grade 3 on Tuesday af-ternoons – 4:00-5:00 pm Substitute Catechist. Our Religious Educa-tion Program needs sub-stitute catechists for the 2019/2020 school year Please consider sharing your love of our faith with the children of our parish. Substitutes are needed when a teacher is unavailable to teach. Usually a lesson will be assigned, or our staff can pro-vide special materials for that day’s lesson. You may request a specific day to be called upon. Clas-ses are held on Sunday mornings from 10:30-11:30 or Monday/Tuesday afternoon from 4:00-5:00 pm. coffee and donuts in the lower church hall on Sunday morning after the 9:30 Mass.

We offer an opportunity to come together in a small group to learn more about our faith. Sessions focus on the teach-ings and experience of Church and prepare individuals to celebrate the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist during the Easter season. You are welcome to participate in the process with your questions, your insights and your faith story in a warm, welcoming setting. The Anti-Trafficking Coalition [ATC] of the Boston Unit of the Leadership Conference of Wom-en Religious [LCWR] is commit-ted to raising awareness and in-spiring action that will stop the demand for human trafficking in our neighborhoods and our world.
Public Square Rosary is
in its 12th year and will be held this October 12th at
noon outside St. John’s church. This will be our 12th
year. Many thousands of these rosaries will be taking
place all across America at the same time. The Par-
ishes of St. John and St. Gerard invite you to come
and pray for America. May we return to the faith and
the patriotism upon which our country was founded.
Certainly we will be proud to have a part in this pow-
erful prayer.

Hot coffee and donuts again! All are invited to coffee and donuts (juice for the kids) in the lower church hall on Sunday mornings. It’s a wonderful way to meet other families in the Community! Join us after the 8:30 and 10:30 Masses every Sunday at St. Gerard’s.
