As we celebrate the visit of the three wise men to Jesus we

mark the end of the Christmas season. We have so much to be thankful for in St. Mary’s Parish as we look back on the Christmas Season we have just celebrated. Sincere thanks and appreciation to Yvonne Hargreaves who generously gave of her time and talent to decorate the church at Christmas, to Frank and Nadia DeAmicis who provided the beautiful arrangements for the front entrance and to Jeanette Binsfield for her tireless work around the church. To the parish schools, Principals and teachers for the joyful celebrations of Mass; to our music ministry who enriched our liturgies and to our lectors, communion ministers, altar servers and ushers, a heartfelt thank you for all you do! And to all who shared their good cheer with kind words and actions, your thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated. Let us look to this New Year with its great promise and hope. Msgr. Marco, Fr. Jeremias, Fr. Gustave, Fr. Reddy, Deacon Ron, Deacon Del and Parish Staff.

Have you thought of becoming a Catholic or completing your initiation as a Catholic through

First Communion or Confirmation? If so, please call or email the parish office indicating your interest. The parish program begins this fall.

CENACLE – PRAY FOR PRIESTS

UNDECORATING THE CHURCH With the Baptism of the Lord, the Christmas Season officially ends. We will take down our decorations in the church next Sunday, January 13th after the noon Mass. Anyone who can help is encouraged to assist. Thank you!

DAILY MASS READINGS

Canadian daily readings are now available on our parish website. Working with our publishing partners at Living with Christ/Novalis, the Archdiocese of Toronto has been able to include this new feature on the

www.archtoronto.org website and all parish websites within the archdiocesan website network. The Daily Readings tab can be found under the Our Catholic Faith drop-down menu on the archdiocesan and parish websites within the archtoronto.org network.

HOSPITAL VISTING Please be reminded that if a family member or friend is

in the R.V.H. the parish makes regular visits more than once a week to the hospital. It is necessary however, that you let us know the name, and if possible, location of the patient. With the patient’s permission, we would be most happy to visit them. Please do not presume that there is some automatic way that we discover who is in the hospital. It is required that the family contact the parish.

DO YOU WANT YOUR MARRIAGE BLESSED? Many couples for various reasons are opting not to be married in the church. It is important that you recognize that you can remediate this choice by coming and

having your marriage blessed. Please call the parish office to arrange an appointment with the priest to begin the process. Part of the meeting with the priest will be a discussion about the sacramentality of marriage which is at the heart of why the church wishes to be part of couples’ marriages.

COMMUNION MINISTERS TO SHUT-INS Can you imagine taking on the commitment and privilege of bringing the Sacrament to a certain

number of people on a weekly basis? We are looking for new communion ministers to visit and take communion to those who are shut-in and reside in care homes connected with the parish. Please call Deacon Ron at extension 115.

PARISH LIBRARY Do you have a good book to read on those quiet days that come after Christmas? Maybe a visit to our parish library will give you an opportunity to reflect on our faith in a new and particular way. Also, if you have any books that you wish to pass on to the parish library, drop them off at the office. Any that are fairly new that are not already in the holdings will be put in the library. The same goes for DVDs and CDs. Thank you.

ff||ÇÇvvxxÜÜxx gg{{ttÇÇ~~áá44 Sincere thanks to Adams Funeral Home located at 445 St. Vincent Street here in Barrie. Doug Adams, once again, generously provided the pointsettias that decorated the church and the parish calendars that so many parishioners look forward to using.

Thank you Doug and the staff at Adams Funeral Home

Once you complete it, please attach a void cheque. Your form can be placed on the collection plate or dropped in at the parish office. Thank you!

And to all who shared their good cheer with kind words and actions, your thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated. Let us look to this New Year with its great promise and hope. Msgr. Marco, Fr. Have you thought of becoming a Catholic or completing your initiation as a Catholic through

First Communion or Confirmation? If so, please call or email the parish office indicating your interest. The parish program begins this fall.

CENACLE – PRAY FOR PRIESTS

The Cenacle meets every Monday morning in the adoration chapel at 10:30 a.m. (except holiday Mondays) to pray for our priests. We are currently seeking new members. Please call Audrey Belcourt at 705-792-0489 for more information.

Thank you.

Once you complete it, please attach a void cheque. Your form can be placed on the collection plate or dropped in at the parish office. Thank you!
